I stole this post from another site(long, sorry).. i found it to be kinda an interesting situation, but couldn't get any input on my view
"I'm at a 2/5 NL home game that started because of a very wealthy player who is liable to drop between 5K-30K in a session. At this point I turn at 300 buyin into 2.2K when this hand happens.
First we have a rock which is nothing more than a straddle for $20. Well UTG +2 doubles the straddle so its now $40 to go. Wealthy guy makes it $135 to go after a fold. As u probably figured out he does this with ATC. He gets the cutoff and button flats. The SB makes it $400 to go. He also is a total wacked out player who was also making all kinds of raises with garbage hands.
Well i look down in the BB at KK , I make it $900 to go it folds back to the SB who thinks about it and goes allin. Now he has gone allin before with Q7o and J8s preflop for some monster pots so his allin gets no respect. Well he has me covered and as i'm about to call he says wait and flips over his hand, AA.
the concensus is that the villain with AA made an awful play.. i had a slightly different take on it
Assume that villain with AA has our 2.2k covered (if he doesn't it makes his play even better).. and he has to up against KK (maybe QQ,caseAA)
shows AA = +$1635 (picking up pot uncontended)
doesn't show = .80(+$2835) + .20(-$2200) = expected return of +$1828
OK so if the villain with AA has an unlimited BR then the play is to get it all in.. but assuming he can't just buyin for another 2.2k, with the game being as outrageously crazy/soft as OP stated.. does anyone else like showing AA here?
thanks for those who actually read all of this -
I see your logic. He can win a very sizable pot without even having to worry about getting sucked out. Basically, he's guaranteed what's in there because it's so unlikely that anyone will call.
Very interesting situation.
However, I guess maybe from the mathematical perspective, he's more than likely up against a premium pair like K-K or Q-Q, which is a huge dog to his Aces. So was he really getting compensated enough?
Maybe he just runs bad and knew his aces would get cracked?
EDIT: Honestly if it was me, I would be damn happy showing the Aces and scooping $1635, but that's because I'm a micro-limit player who's biggest score was $216.
