1. I don't really post on here that often but I saw a really interesting article in the South Florida Sun Sentinel today about David Rheem.

Gambler with Broward ties in World Series of Poker final

If he outlasts eight other players in the final that starts Nov. 9, he'll win $9.1 million.

Former Seminole Hollywood Casino poker manager Steve Watkins said Rheem, 28, learned to play soon after he turned the legal casino poker age of 18. The games included Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, a former Seminole Classic dealer now among the world's top players.

Rheem "didn't act like he knew everything, and became a good player by watching and playing a lot. A very polite young man," Watkins said.

Since 2005, Rheem has won $634,637 in major tournaments according to PokerPages.com. He finished second in a World Series' preliminary event in 2006.

He completed play at 6 a.m. Tuesday Las Vegas time and will start the final table in seventh place. It's the first year that the World Series delayed the final table until November. ESPN will air the play leading up to the final table in the next four months. The network will air the two final days of play on Nov. 11.

Eight years ago in Broward County, Rheem was convicted of dealing in stolen property and burglary, both felonies, as well as larceny and possession of marijuana, court records show. He was sentenced to four months jail time and 30 months probation.

He also failed to appear in court on a 2003 misdemeanor trespassing charge in Hollywood, according to state criminal records, leading to a court order for his arrest. The warrant for his arrest remains active.

Rheem could not be reached for comment. Neither Rheem's main sponsor, pokerstars.net, nor World Series officials said they knew of Rheem's background.

2. kill him.
3. While I don't know Rheem personally, I know he's good friends w/ all my buddies from Hollywood, FL. Therefore, I will be rooting for him come November...arrest warrant or not.

4. It's likely the warrant was resolved long ago and remains on the record mistakenly. Even if it wasn't, a misdemeanor warrant from Florida will not be enforced in NV.

What a jealous jerk this "reporter" is contacting Poker stars and WSOP. By all accounts Rheem is a polite and well-liked player. This guy is just looking for attention. He should go ahead and run criminal checks on all poker players starting with Doc Holliday. Big suprise.

I just emailed him with my opinion.

I have no problems with him either and being that Hollywood is where I play I will be rooting for him too, just thought it was something people might want to read

6. chino is a very nice guy. dealt to him a few times, all class. glglgl sir
7. This is a good post. It shows the scrutiny these players will be under for the next fews months. There will be other stories like this. Good thing Shawn Sheikan did not FT this one. His history would have been bad for the game.
8. It doesn't say, but this warrant could be for a felony probation violation(2000+4mo. jail time+30mo. probation= sometime in 2003), which could lead to some jail time.
9. Lawl.

Let Mortal Kombat begin......
10. take it down chino

11. I remember watching chino vs cunningham...and chino showed alot of class...I will definitly be rooting for him during the FT

..not to mention a contempt of court charge and a judge who hates poker...say goodbye november. Unlikely, yes...but possible.
13. Your just jealous. We all have skeletons in our closet why even post. Chino's a great guy and you show how much an ass you are by posting this while hes on top trying to bring him down. Haters suck. TID CHINO

14. Whatever the case, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone in the poker community with a negative opinion of this guy. He's been around for years, doesn't run his mouth, and plays well....just a good guy all around.

FWIW, I believe it was 2005 that he was very deep in the main event and lost an enormous pot to bust out with AA vs. AK all in preflop. Nice to see him get another shot.
Also, if you guys act like 12 year olds, calling each other names and bickering in threads, your posts aren't going to stay up. Not sure why our mods missed the kiddie-fest here, but they're staying on top of that stuff for the most part

15. this guys been around.
16. i like the guy

17. He'll be fine as long as when he returns to Florida (if he even does so before November), he doesn't broadcast where he's staying...or get pulled over for something stupid.

If I were him, I'd just stay in Vegas. Why risk not being able to get back there for the Final Table if he were to get picked up in Florida, and it went bad?
18. lilholdem makes rheem look soft.

seriously though. is this a big deal? i don't think so, but I guess you gotta know the details.

LOL, level? How bad could a misdemeanor trespassing charge go for a guy with 900k in the bank?

This has nothing to do with jealously just posting an article that was in the newspaper... if you want to discuss the writer of the article being an ass, jealous, trying to bring him down that's fine but for me I just thought it was interesting... I hardly believe a bench warrant for a misdeameanor crime is going to bring him down I think he'll be ok and I am actually rooting for him but thanks

22. Jesus I would never forgive myself if I got arrested for missing court on some BS back in 03 and missed this FT, I wonder if the fuzz will be waiting for him at the WSOP FT in Nov if he doesn't get this shit straight?

If I'm him I'd use that 900K to get the best lawyer in FLA that's close friends with a bunch of judges in that county and the DA, then I'd be making some maxed out contributions to every judge, politician, and DA's campaign in FLA.
23. my guess is that this warrant means absolutely nothing in the 49 other states in the country.
24. All a FLA Marshall would need to do is call Nevada and request jurisdiction to apprehend a failure to appear, then take a nice working vaca to Vegas and snatch him up then shake him down for like 250K and go back home and be like, I thought the WSOP was at the Bellagio YO.
25. Been watching any movies lately?
26. Rheem = 9 millie..$hip it
27. its funny, i played with DAVID RHEEM and ROBERT MIZRACHI all the time at HOLLYWOOD SEMINOLE CASINO from 95-2000. We used to play OMAHA HI LOW tourneys for $135.00 when NHL was not propular yet. David was just an average player and i used to beat him all the time in omaha...NOW 12 years later, hes a star and im a dud!@!!!!!
28. I used to play with Chino all the in the like $10 mtts on stars 3 years ago, hes come a long way and im rooting for him.
29. Someone always has to be a hater. So so sad. David I do not know you, but I know you are a great player and I want you to win! I have watched you play and you are ALWAYS nice and respectful to people. GLGLGL TID sir. Oh and btw...F**k the jealous haters!
