  1. I was relatively new to the table but in the last ~25 hands villian had been very aggressive and had a mid-large stack. Obvious, the resteal didnt work. I probably shouldve tried with a hand that wasnt so easily dominated as well. I had played very conservatively over the hands I had been at the table. Thoughts?

**** RECENT HAND: ADVICE ON THIS TOO PLEASE (SIMILAR SITUATION) A similar hand took place last night at nearly the same spot in a tournament. I had AJo in the BB. Cutoff with 40,000 chips raises to 7000 with 1200/2400 blinds, I reshove with 29,000 chips. Like the first time, he was new to the table but only for about 20 hands and had shown up a few big hands recently after raising pf. Are you still shoving here? Thanks for the input, gotta fill them leaks in the my game. *Also, K9s with blinds at 800/1600 and a stack of 8200. folded to in cutoff with fairly tight mid-stacked players (stack sizes 14,000-19,000) to act after. are you shoving there?
  2. ummm... in hte past i would do that, but the more iv'e been learning, ill fold going up a big stack like that in this part of the tourny
  3. You don't have any fold equity really so u r prob gonna get called. I think I am shoving here most of the time vs. aggressive player, just unlucky imo.

  4. I disagree that you don't have fold equity here. Your push is for over half his stack. I think there are many hands he could raise as an agressive player and get away from it.

The resteal is a tricky play. You do it not because you feel ahead, but you feel that you can get him away from his hand. I think your in the middle, since you could even be ahead here (If you had QQ, it's not a resteal, it would be a raise). But, it's a move that doesn't work 100% of the time, and you can feel foolish when it doesn't work.

You ran into him having a monster here, it's really more bad luck that the time you decide to call him out on his reraising, he has you dominated with a hand he isn't getting away from.

But, big pot, you had fold equity, you have a decent hand and a read that he may be light, I really don't see a better time to try and pull this move, it just didn't work.
  5. Looks like a cooler to me - 8 handed, you said he has been very agressive and you have been tight, so you are way ahead of his open raising range from the CO, and you have plenty of fold equity.

    Unlucky.
  6. Your shove is fine....you just got unlucky that he happened to have the very top of his range...also dont consider this a resteal, most of the time AJ will have his range crushed...dont question plays like this, u moved in with decent FE against a laggy player with a hand that has showdown value...u did exactly what u were supposed to
