Going to buy a laptop for playing on FT/PS next year.
What you guys think, is "15" enough, or does it have to be a "17" model ???
Essentially, I want to play up to 3-4 tables at once at a point.
Thanks :-) -
You're gonna hate yourself if you buy a 15in

Thanks. Overlapping is not a problem.
Actually, I may only 2-3 table, that seems best, only playing micros so far.
The Laptops can be upgraded with UMTS Broadband module for wireless internet.
Is that reliable ???
............
On a sidenote, a "17" is probably a bit heavy ...
For 2-3 tables, with overlapping smaller windows isn´t a "15" enough ???
I have an Imac 20´at home, so I would be using the Laptop just for the occasional plays ... What do you think ?
Cheers, -
i have a dell 1520 - 15" obv
i set the rest to 1440x990 and i can easily 4 table. More than that is definitely doable but i just don't. no reason why you wouldn't be able to 6 table. -
I got the new XPS 15" (for lighter weight purposes) the M1530 model. I have the resolution set to the highest possible (ordered that way) and I can get 9-12 tables at the lowest size for each window (no overlap). However, the tiny stack sizes make ur eyes want to bug out but you can get 6-9 no problem, decent size.

I bought a 17" HP on Friday and I'm 4 tabling and the tables are perfectly fine. The 1440x900 resolution is a little wider than the dimensions of FTP and stars windows so the display has some extra room for my taskbar on the right side of the display the way I like it. You can resize the tables and see the 4 of them just fine on a 15.4". If you're gonna work up to more tables (and if you're already playing 4 you're probably looking to add more sometime) you may as well plan for the future.
Here's (click on the page to see full size) what the tables look like on my 17" when resized to 4 table (no overlap) or to 6-9 table (minimum size, some overlap). Here's a comparison of the default size and the 2 others. Hopefully you have a 17" widescreen monitor to look at them on. If so this will show you exactly what they'd look like. If not you're looking at them on a larger monitor the tables on a 17' laptop will be slightly smaller, on a 15.4" smaller still.
One other thing to consider is whether or not you type in bet amounts or use sliders. Having a full 10-key pad was critically important to me because I type in all my bets and so I wouldn't even consider a 15.4". You can get an external 10-key pad too but that's just one more thing to buy/carry with you. Additionally, take a look at the 10-key pad and see if there are buttons below or above it. I'm picky and I bought for comfort/ease of use and so I made sure to buy a machine that has the 0 key at the bottom of the 10-key pad so I'm not accidentally hitting the page up key instead of the 0 and betting 525 instead of 5250 or something ridiculous like that. HP, Dell, Lenovo, Gateway all had 0 keys that were double wide and at the bottom of the 10-key pad. If you've never used a 10-key pad with a single wide 0 key instead of a double wide one it can make you fucking crazy unless your thumb is waaaay more dexterous than mine.
And finally, here's a poker and computer displays FAQ on 2+2. -
I have a 20" laptop. XPS M2010 weighs 18lbs, but folds into a suitcase like thing and has all the power of a regular PC. I love it!

I have a dell inspiron 1721 17'' monitor. Bought it over a year ago and havent had any problems. I dont play more than 4 tables but they fit great. I would recommend the 17 inch hands down. My friend has a 15 and it makes the 17 look huge.
On a side note. When you buy a new computer dont dl any porn, bc it slows the hell out of it. I would have a side computer for that. -
If you're never going to be playing more than 3-4 tables then a 15 is definitely adequate and more cost efficient. When you start running more than 4 tables you'll want a 17 or an external monitor if you dont want overlap. Either way, there are certainly people who run 10-12 tables overlapping on tiny laptops.

17in would be good gl sir

WOW ... !!!
Amazed at the numerous good responses, thanks alot guys !!!
As one of you put it, with 2-4 tables, I will probably stick to a "15" model.
I have a "20" screen with my Imac, so just to have something to carry arround should be good, imo. Looking forward to this ...
Thanks again, keep rockin !!!
