Democrats, Republicans, it never mattered

    I wanted to start a new thread because I think brianyut pointed out something worthwhile in this post:

    It's true that the libertarian party would almost fully be agreeable to the poker player's side of this issue, but no other party on the ballot would be. It looks bad to either party to be in support of online gaming (and the politicians you voted for, in equal irony, think you are stupid and don't understand nuance).

    On the other hand, it is more likely that the Republicans would nominate judges that would strike this down as unconstitutional (as ironic as that is). A constructionist judge could not and would not find this to be constitutional. So, if you are going to vote one way or the other, I'd say that your better bet is with the Republican Party. Voting Democrat won't solve anything. They are right that this didn't belong in the Port bill, but they are still voting for it, and they would vote for it if it was a bill of its own, too.

    Democrats = Republicans when it comes to online gaming.

    (Disclaimer: I have a lot of fun with poker and, while it's not my job, there are far more important issues on which to base your vote than this. Besides, there will always be loopholes.)

    This is about Money. The governement wants some. And at some point they will get some.

    Republicans and Demacrats all love money. Who doesnt....

    So in time things will be back to normal and everyone will get paid.

    Let me just say I agree completely with what both of you have said. However, keenan, when you describe the Republican viewpoint on this matter, you are only speaking on behalf of the classical Republican. You know, less government and all. However, I personally feel the modern day Republican (and Democrat for the matter) are all just a bunch of bullshitters. *personal opinion*
