  1. I just read through the home game bust thread and I can't believe they would bust a $30 game w no rake . Seems ridiculous.

So let me get this straight , the game got busted because it was in a shop ? or public office ? But if it was in the guys home residence it would be ok ?

I have a game once a month in my spare office that is over a liquor store in a public building. So , my game could get busted ? All of these seems so stupid to me
  2. Every state has different laws.
  3. I was there when it was busted and if I had to guess what happend I'd say they busted the game figureing it must be a raked game. When they found out that it wasn't a raked game they had to fall back on the 'not a home' game to cover their asses.

It's not even like is an office building downtown. It was a dairy, behind the house is the shop where they work on farm equipment, cars, whatever.
  4. If you live in California, you are holding an illegal poker game and thats no if's, and's or but's about it! Especially since it is over a liquor store, which is considered a place of business!

There are alot of grey area's in Cali's Penal code, and my opinion to you is CYA (cover your ass)!

P.S. I just found out today that it was in fact the local card room who turned us in. His reasoning was "He was tired of people getting up and leaving to come to our game"..... Wanna hear a funny kicker......The nights we had our tourneys on...... It was lady's night at the card room :(
