as the title suggests, besides being able to read people live, do you play differently?
-
One thing I can quickly think of is when you get to push/fold stacks live vs online. Live, my shove range opens a little more and my calling ranges narrow a bit because of the live nits. You can almost always tell the live grinders also so this would only pertain to them.

Where the heck are u guys playing??? Where I play A4o is the pre-flop nuts...
-
ok i thought it was just me
-
Yep, I play a lot faster online.

This is the nuts.

Also the size of your reship can typically be less live and still effective. For example a lot of people will raise fold AQ versus a 15bb reship live, where online they can't call quick enough. -
I've started minraising live in spots where I would be shoving online because the liveament donks play so bad. You can take down a lot of pots pre or on the flop with a cbet when you are bluffing and get them to flop something and stack off light when you're strong. Most of their 3bet ranges are so strong that it's going to be more profitable to open raise and fold to a shove

FUNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYY you say this, my first live series i ever played in, event #1 had about 800 runners, i had been card dead for hours and probably was playing to nitty! i pick up 99 OTB wit 12.2k at 5-1k w/antes c/o opens to 2500 and i think sweet finally a spot to jam being completely standard! gets to old dude and he is tanking, at this point i think he has a smaller pair than me and am screaming for a call inside my goofy, not use to live poker head, he finally tables QQ and says "i think you have the KINGS" and to my shock the two guys to his right say "excellent laydown sir"

-way more FE live, so use that to your adv. when it's appropriate. you can profitably/correctly r/f 20bb (and less!) stacks in live MTT's in some spots, doubt anyone does this online anymore.

-people telegraph their hand/action in live games, plethora of info is available to you--if you're paying attention. online you have sizing and timing tells only.
in live MTT's i play extremely wide in position and am basically just building pots and taking them away postflop w/ various different lines depending on opponents, flop texture and stack sizes. sometimes i'll even make a real hand and am able to get paid w/ an active image. online players are better in general so they will adjust faster and read the board better.
edit: what passiveplay said is HUGE about going w/ your reads. once you see that what you're doing works and is profitable, you stand behind your decisions much more confidently, which is extremely important IMO. this obv applies to both online and live, but in live MTT's it's often hard to pull the trigger on re-steal shoves pre and 3barrel bluffs b/c you have to show that hand down in front of 10 real life people. online you have 10 other tables going and everyone is used to it. -
if true story then L-O-L!
