1. I have no clue what inspired me to do this but I went back to the cardplayers forums where I first got introduced to the online poker scene and read some of my earlier posts on that forum. I played a bit in high school and since I was broke, I played a lot of party poker play money games and tried to learn everything about poker. The first place I went online was cardplayers.com as they had a lot of good articles I thought from hellmuth negreaneu and others.

This was in 2005 when I just turned 18 and couldn't wait to play poker online for real cash and at the time, I obv. thought I was the best poker player ever LOLOL.

Can't believe I was so naive back then and it brought back good memories of when I was clueless and had super high expectations for online poker. Thought some of these were pretty funny.

My very first post on an online poker forum:

"Apr 18, 2005: Subject: Its hands like these that make me hate online poker

I'm sitting at a cash table and there's a veryloose guy playing there. I get dealt Ac Kh, at the dealer button. Heraises x2 BB (0.05, 0.1 blinds) and I raise to a dollar. He calls. Flopcomes down 4h 7h 5s. He goes all in 30$. I've played an hour at thistable with this guy and this time I know in my gut he's bluffing. Icall with 15$ and he shows Ks 8s. Next card is a 3h so i have the flushdraw. River is 6d and he has the highest straight. It ****** me off somuch since the last 15$ was my entire bankroll and I knew that I hadhim that hand. Its times like these I hate online poker and think itsrigged."

Ah, another genius post by me.

"May 6, 2005: Subject: How much of your bankroll to play with?
I brought my online bankroll to about 600$pokerstars and decided to play at the 100$ max buy in tables. I wasdoing good till I ran into a huge hand that left me 100$ down (mypocket Js get destroyed by his pocket Qs with board of 2 J Q 8 2). Sothat got me thinking, for the above average player, what % of yourbankroll should you play with at cashtables. With a 500$ bankroll, Iprobably should stay around the 50$ max buy in tables and not the 100$ones.

Was wondering what tables you guys played at with your bankrolls."

Good ol' days of 5-10 buy in BR management.

Anyone else have good memories of when they were donk who wasn't aware of how much of a donk they were?

2. im still a donk

3. After I just blew a 30 bb stack to another 30 bb stack in the nightly I have brought the donk back but he never really lefted anyway

4. I've been playing online since Jan. 2004.

Every single time i realize i was doing something wrong, or i think i finally understood a new concept, i feel like i was a donk 'till that very moment, and it seems unreal to believe that i've ever won a poker hand without knowing about that concept.

So i guess i still a donkey.

5. My first tournament result on stars was a win in a 130 person $50 multi, and omg I was the biggest donk in history, going all in about every 3 hands from midway point on.... come to think of it, maybe I should go back to doing that....

6. If you are a PXF member go and search ST311. I have an $11 MTT on stars that I won back in 2006 and I was bad. I think the 11th hand I limped UTG with JJ, there was a raise to 80 and a call and when it came back to me I shoved like 1480. So bad.
7. About a year ago when i was underaged i played a very large tournament and went very deep. I look back at the hand history and cant beilieve how godly awful it was. I was chip leader with about 40 left and open folded JJ utg because I just didnt FEEL it and was scared i was going to lose more chips. God do i wish i could have that stack now in that tourny. I wasnt that awful I just played so abc, didnt know about shoving when i got low, made terrible bluffs that didnt make sense. It was funny to look back at that.

8. I thought Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan were the best players in the world, looooooooool
9. My first decent FT was on AP like 3 1/2 years ago. It was something like a 10k guaranteed or so, i really can't remember. We were 3 left, with one guy short-stacked. I'll never forget that at one point he shoved on the button, the SB folded, i had AQ on the BB and FOLDED cause i didn't want to double him up LOL. I'd never forget that hand.

13. I was a winning player since I first started, but looking back, I have no idea how. I remember that I used to love to min-raise aces at every opportunity, yknow, cuz I wanted as much action as possible. As they say, I won a lot of very small pots and lost a lot of big ones. Sigh. It's a miracle I never went busto.
14. LOL. I was waaaaaaaay too tight when I first started. I would wait for huge hands and try to play a monster pot. I had no clue.
15. ha yes, i'm still not an amazing player but definitely improved from where i used to be.

i played in a game with terribly loose/passive players. now that i know how to play, it'd be my dream to play with them (of course most of them have learned better too).

i remember folding Q4 after much deliberation with the blinds 5/10 and 1500 chips and then pounding the table when flop came QQ4.

also remember discussing with a buddy of mine how J7 was an okay hand.

and believe it or not, i was considered the tightest player at this game.
16. I started playing at Poker Room, and they didn't even offer NL at the time. It's hard to believe, but pretty much everybody played fixed games back then.

Well when I made my first deposit I decided I was going to play extremely tight, so I wrote down on a piece of paper the hands I'd play pre flop.

I basically remember, any two suited cards, any ace or king, or any cards that could make a straight. I had to write it down so I didn't loosen up and waiver from this tight strategy. lol

So yes, solid hands like 72c, 59o, and K2, were all part of my solid rep. I was going to try and build.

Also remember buying my first book. The first chapters talked about playing tight, what hands you should play, and positions you should play them from. I remember being in shock that it actually suggested playing this tight. Especially when I thought I was already a rock.
17. zefa anyone out of our homegame will always be a donk and we both know that.
