i believe i have a pretty good understanding of the game so i think i know what to do in different situations as they come up. but i was just wondering if it is bad to do other things while playing poker online. i guess an example would be like posting a topic on p5's lol or looking at other websites, and just looking at your poker table when you have a hand. i think it might be effecting my play.
i just want to know what peoples opinions are on that and if they do that or is it better just to concentrate on your table and pay attention to the players. -
i was wondering the same
-
easy question, full concentration on the poker game is a bad idea!
(dude, think before you ask next time) -
what are you talking about genius... who are you to say that... so you're saying when you play live you should read a book or something and not pay attention to the game.. thats the same as playing online and reading an article on a different website

who knows if u good i guess it dont matter to much..guy who 5 and 8 table, no way their contrating on every player every move..and most these guys do well...i only 2 table, but i also read email, watch tv, cook , and talk on the phone

I seem to do better when the TV is off.
-
i think its natural to do more than one thing while playing whether it be watching tv, internet, whatever. For me TV is always on in the background, whether or not im watching is a different story. If you think its affecting your play then just try doing notheing else while playing and see which you prefer. Also I think you should always be observing your opponents/table, maybe not every second of the game, but pay attention.

I used to always watch TV in the background when playing poker. If I was on a single table, it was not too much of a problem. It was more difficult to accurately know everything that was going on while the TV was on, even if I wasn't paying any attention to it. I've recently attempted to take my game to another level, and in order to do that, you have to know as much about your opponents as possible.
In the past week, I can't begin to tell you how many subtle, quiet things I've picked up on just because the TV has not been on. Some of those little things led to making better decisions, some of which caused, or greatly contributed to winning a SNG I may have not won otherwise. Poker is a game where every little thing does matter. You're free to watch the TV, browse the web, do whatever you want while playing poker. But in the long run, it will hurt your profits. -
Funny... Since my TV died I've won 2 mtts

if i have a lot of studying to do and am getting bored of it, ill open up a couple sng's or micros and study the whole first hour of mtt's or up to about 50-100 in sng's, at this time i stop studying and play as good as i can...if i bust, i know to concentrate on studying, if i bubble i play with sharp objects and drink while running around on slick floors

can't believe it took that long for someone to mention porn.................so rigged

Clicking my mouse with one hand and clicking my **** with the other.

I don't do it often enough, but I get the headphones on, turn off the TV, and just watch the table.
That is by far when I play the best. My top 2 finishes on MTT's were won because of the above formula.
Too often I find myself playing while watching TV out of the corner of my eye, and I'll get so caught up in a show that the only thing reminding me I'm playing poker is the warning beeps from the hand timer... -
i was thinking the same:)

affecting not effecting....
this is one of the most unnecessary corrections in the history of online message boards I think. Yes it is affecting not effecting, but I know English majors who would get that wrong. I would correct 40,000 other errors on these boards before that one. If you are correcting that error then you seriously need to get a life. -
Well I seem to play the best sitting on the pot taking a dump. Thank god for exlax and meamucile.
"I love suited cards cause I love going all in." -
English majors get this wrong??? Wow, that's sad....
