  1. While this is true in most situations I just let my ego get the best of me and it paid me $50. While $50 isn't alot too most of you, it is to me a $5-10 SNG player. I was playing a $10 SNG on BoDog and I got down to 150 in chips after my top 2 pair on the flop lost to runner runner for a str8. Needless to say I now have 2600 and I am the CL right now. Anyways the guy who beat me was talking mad shit to me saying this and that ( I knocked him out in 10th btw). I was talking back of course, when he said if your so big play me $50 heads-up. I have $107 in my BoDog acct, $96 after I paid the $10+1 for the SNG. This guy wouldn't stop, so I said OK, screw it pick the table and I will play. I was shaking because if I lose my acct would be on E and I'd be pissed as hell after. My heads-up game is nowhere near my strongest point either, althought it has improved alot this past month. I started off cautious as hell, but I started to get cards when I had A10 on the button and raised, he called and the flop came A K 4. I bet he called. The turn was a J. He bet, he went all-in and I called, he showed KJ and it held up knocking me down to 460 in chips. FINALLY the poker gods shined on me and I went on a rush starting with my Ah Ks vs his Qs 9c and I was all-in. The flop came 3s 8s 6h, turn was 9s giving him 9's leaving me to catch a spade when the river fell 7s! I screamed like Moneymaker winning the main event. After this I caught fire and beat him 4 hands later. Thanks goodness because I would have been sick if I lost $50 because of my friggen ego!!!
  2. The same thing happened to me last weekend. I was playing a cash game when I guy started riding me for not betting the river on a hand I ended up winning. Long story short, after much trash talking, we agreed to a $30 HU. I dominated him all the way through, and had him with his tail between his legs. Then he caught a lucky all in hand to bring him back to about 1/3 to my 2/3. I then went on a run of just awful poker... I started getting cocky because I felt I was a better player, and overbet everything. He nailed me. I lost. Big deal, right? Except he then followed me around UB, trashing me. Finally I agreed to meet him at a heads up cash table. Again... I was ringing his bell, but he nailed me on a couple big hands. All of the sudden I was down $120 to him overall. Combined with me making an ill-advised decision to play 2/4 limit that afternoon and dropping $150, I was down about $200 that day (I had won a $5 50 man SNG earlier to make up for it a little).

That night, I made a decision to pull out most of my bankroll (about $2000) and use it to buy my girlfriend an engagement ring. I'm now back to playing $5 MTTs and $5 SNGS, and no bigger than .50/1 cash games.
