  1. So I'm in the WSOP 1500 NL and the blinds are 150/300. The first three players pass and I pick up KK. So I raise it to 800 hoping to catch one player when the little blind who hasn't put up his 150 says he only has one card. The dealer somehow screwed it up and the players start calling the misdeal. The dealers says misdeal I and said WAIT, no misdeal, get a floorman.

The floorman comes around and since there was action he calls the hand live and lets the little blind fold without a post. I got no callers but the extra 550 helped keep me going. I did cash in at 227.

Had I said nothing, the dealer would have declared misdeal, pulled the cards and I would have got nada. When in doubt call FLOORMAN!!!!
  2. heh for some reason I'm not surprised no one called your raise :)
  3. Good advise.

In general a misdeal can only be called by the dealer or floor person, and it is only correct if 1 of 2 things occur. 1) one of the first 2 cards are exposed during the deal, or 2) 2 or more cards are exposed during the deal.

  4. Yeah, that was the only downside. Once I needed the floorman to keep the hand in action, they all ran like rabbits.

  5. Calling the floorman obviously telegraphs your hand but still, that little extra can make a big difference. Plus, it can also be a subtle reminder to the dealer to pay attention so that a mistake is compounded by another mistake. Glad it worked out in the end for you and congrats on the cash.
  6. What would you have done if the big blind pushed all in after your statement? I think that you might just have to fold after announcing to the entire table you have KK or AA.

  7. So the trick is to do this with a horrible hand next time, reverse psychology?
