well i cant really say much aside the fact that the higher you go the smaller the amount of player base. When you get up to levels like 20/40 and 25/50nl.. its basically the same players on each site.. different screennames but essentially the same people.
these players know eachother by name.. even are close friends but they have one thing in common.
They win, and they lose.
On wednesday night when i was playing 25/50nl 8 handed on Prima i had 4 people at the table currently on msn.. i was playing poker against.. but still also chatting with 4 out of the 7 players in play. Now you might get worried about stuff like this but not really. For example i lost 900 bucks to my friend and as i was chasing my flush i was typing to him on msn saying. "your mine... rofl just wait till you see this river.. iam gonna make you wish you were dead.
Then when i fold at river he just types back laughing "you stupid fish.. get out of my face bitch.
Like i mean people really know eachother well but they do still play at eachother.. the main thing here is money.. each player is playing to win.. if you were palying just to have fun or kill time.. you do that at the 100 dollar table and save alot of possible loss. Anyhow i just want you to know that there is not really collusion.. but there is definitly friendships and because of that there will be less action. A friend wont really chase as much or bet as hard into another friend as he would a stranger. Now about live games.. no difference.. you get your standard table of 20/40 limit.. and say the casino only runs 2 tables of that.. well guess what? Same players everyday.. everyone knows eachother by name.. its all the same no matter where you go. Dont worry about cheaters.. and dont worry about collusion. Its just a fact that mathematically you will run into them at some point in time in either game just as you would a terrible bad beat. All you gotta do is move on and keep playing your game.
Hope this huge ramble helps a bit -
Good to see ya postin under your name Readzie ........

Collusion at a live game and the ability to IM are two totally different things.
You write that there is no collusion , but that is just not true. I'm sure that among many they just don't get the morality or the criminal nature of their actions, and with little hope of getting caught they will periodically practice collusion.
This is the toughest part of online play, and very difficult to find considering communication on the net.
I often am playing in a SNG were the site does not have that many players and I am very concerned b/c of the small bets or lack of betting or lay downs with 3 or 4 players against each other in comparison to how I am getting played.
In an SNG once, there were 4 players left and two players left in hand typed in they were going to call down, even though one had two pair. At the end they chopped, not knowing that I had stayed on to watch.
I was in another game and the person typed in their hand in which I responded with a question of what they were doing. Now they may have just been IM a friend who was watching, I don't know, but I felt the way they would respond to me questioning it would tell me a lot.
They had not said a word previously and they waited till the end of the hand, and then commented how they just missed their str8. That is exactly what I did not want to hear b/c it leaned toward guilt. Does not mean they were guilty but a suscpicion that I will never know!
Collusion takes place, its beyond easy, and put in the hands of gamblers sometimes too tempting for many. It's a reality, it's wrong, and hopefully the sites do everything they can to shut down that type of behavior. Otherwise, turning a blind eye to criminals on your site makes your site what?
So let's hope they are monitoring patterns as much if not more as they monitor, catch, and prosecute/penalize software use and vulgar language.
And for the people practicing it-you will one day either be broke or in jail or both-cause you just don't get it! And what price fame? -
Some people have asked me....Pardo you dont ever play for serious cash online....and by serious we are talking 5 10 NL, 1,000...while this isnt entirely true....i try to avoid it, i dont even like playing 2 5 NL(my most comfortable game) with 400 bucks online....but sometimes i do anyway because driving an hour and half to foxwoods just always inst feasible....anyway the reason for this is because i just dont trust it. If you think there isnt cheating online you are nuts.
Lets examine the obvious...cell phones, instant messager, email.....how easy is it to sit with a buddy or even two at a 6 handed table and communicate hands with each other....its simple and you can own most of the table....just for an example me and my roomate while in college would often be playing online at the same site, and you can bet your ass, when we played in a tournement when we were randomly assigned to the same table, we stayed out of each others way...and we did that by simply communicating our hands over IM....and thats nothing compared to maxim magezines article about the online cheating with re-routing IP addresses and one person playing at the same table with 3 seperate accounts...people say it doesnt happen at 25/50....i wouldnt be so sure, the other night im watching a high stakes on Royal and this guy standingwave was getting his ass handed to him in a 3 handed high stakes game... 100/200 NL, and asked for the other guy dareds MSN name....hmm was it to make pleasantries, was it to talk about the whether, maybe it was to beg for his money back, maybe it was to discuss away they could work together to stack the odds against other players.....this is why often you see high stakes cash games online being played only heads up......and the cheating is more likely to be rampid where poker managers are not carefully monitoring....IE the levels most of us play at, 2/4NL, 2/5 NL....i personallly would never play for the kind of money some people do online no matter how weathly i was...its shady in my opinion....i stick with the MTT online.....i feel its a lot safer....

Pardo, great comments and thanks for your honesty. I think plenty of people playing online today just don't get the gravity of what they do, and many people have done it!
Eventually you figure out it is not worth it and do I want to be this type of person, and you move on and are the better for it. Like you have.
But many don't.
Thank you for your honesty and a look into what I think is probably not as uncommn as we think.
Another interesting point is that since most of these websites don't want to have standing in many countries in the world and do not want to be subject of their rules, if they did uncover something widespread, would they even pursue it (beyond kicking them off the site) for fear they could be subject to that countries laws? Therefore, there really is no enforcement mechanism available-hopefully this will be rectified in the next few years. -
Absolutely and of course i would never ever participate in any kind of active cheating live or online, and just to mention, when me and my roomate play together live nowadays we never ever share information, its not right at all and those random very few times we were together online we never tried to re raise people out of pots, thats just not right....i remeber one pot this past summer where he took me fore 329 dollars in a multiway pot....hes ruthless! haha but in any case, honestly, you need to protect yourself, and in my opinion, if you want to play for real cash, do it at a casino where its a safe environment and the playing field is level....you just dont know whats out there guys, i mean whats that old addage...if it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck...then it probably is....a pair of deuces?...ahhaha no thats not it but you get the idea....gl at the tables...and as always...
Keep Floppin Aces
