  1. Not to beat a dead horse about the payout structure, but I emailed them a few days ago concerning the payouts of the $33 2-day, and actually got a reply instead of just "we'll take your concerns under consideration blah blah blah"

    <pre><tt><tt>Hello Kevin,

    Thank you for your email.

We have recently changed the payout structure of some of our major
tournaments. The goal is to pay more of the starting field, and at least
twice the buy-in for those who cash.

However, when the fields are so large (the tournament in question had over
20,000 runners), the payout size for the lower cashes suffers. We want to
let as many players as possible cash (after all, the cashers managed to
get through about 16,000 players), but in these large fields the lower
payouts will simply be smaller. It was either letting 4500 players cash at
least $30, or 3500 players cash at least between $40 and $50. The
difference is not that big for the players who would cash in the latter
options, so to give more players a positive end to their tournament, we
decided to choose the former option.

We do however appreciate your feedback, and I have sent it to the relevant
    department for their consideration.

I hope this clarifies the matter for you.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Basically again just sums up that they're trying to keep the fish in the
game and pay more rake over time. Nothing new really, just thought I'd post it
as I'm sure a lot of other people get the email reply that just says they'll
look into it and forward it to whatever department, etc.

  2. Hello Phil,

    Thank you for your feedback.

I happen to agree with you that the minimum payout in a tournament should
be higher than the buy-in. We will discuss this and try to address it in
    the future.

The payout structures for an event are set based on ranges, something
like "If between X and Y players show up, Z will be paid." We can't know
how many will show, and we try to avoid situations like happened in this
event, but sometimes we miss times when payouts are insufficient to exceed
the buy-in. This particular payscale (4500 paid) covers a wide range, and
is it turns out, at the bottom of the range, the percentage could be
    higher.

It's difficult to find the right balance. Many people like to be paid
*something* for making it through so many people, while others would
prefer a bigger prize at the top, and to pay fewer. We try to find the
    right mix.

Again, we appreciate your feedback, and will work toward addressing this
in the future. Thank you for playing in SCOOP, and for playing on
    pokerstars.

    Sincerely,

    Joan H.
