I'll try to keep this short and sweet. I was playing in a live NLHE game earlier today at Venetian and was in the small blind. Our dealer had just come from the 8/16 Omaha Hi-Lo game and in one hand had already dealt half the players at the table 3 cards and had to kill the hand because it was a misdeal.
I'm dealt 10c6h in the sb, and once again the dealer deals me a 3rd card. I let him know that he's dealt me 3 cards and he quickly grabs one off of the top of my hand (he did this very quickly and I had no clue which card he grabbed). Anyhow, someone opens the action to 4x and 4 people call. I now look down at my improved 8h6h and realize the dealer had inadvertently changed my hand for the better. I call the raise, whiff the flop and muck my hand. Essentially no harm done, and in all actuality his mix up lead to me putting in an extra 3.5bb into the pot.
My question is: did I do something dishonest by playing a hand that actually wasn't supposed to be dealt to me? Did I angleshoot here? To be honest, I feel like I did but I'd like to get some of your opinions. In this situation my hand only improved marginally, but what if I had been dealt A8o and had it replaced with AA. And (hypothetically) now I'm in the small blind with an open and a 3 bet to me, should I muck in this spot. This last scenario is more a thought experiment than anything, but I feel like even though I know the right thing to do would be to inform the table of the dealer's error and muck my hand, but I honestly feel that in-game I'd just play my hand. Does that make me a scumbag? -
Don't look at your hand until it's your turn to act and then you won't have to worry about feeling guilty.

dealer should have killed the hand when he dealt you the 3rd card...you did what you were supposed to do...he's a bad dealer...

just say youve already looked at your cards and the hand will get redealt

opened this thread expecting it to be about whether spitting on someone while playing is ethically ok
was sadly disappointed -
Carma n (elecktra) is a biatch hot but a biatch

I can't believe in a live game in the small blind you knew both your cards before this 3rd card came.

No problem just flip all 3 face up and call for misdeal.......

Does that make me a scumbag?
think the dealer put you in a bad spot but would you do it differently if it happened again? think that's your answer.
