tilts me to no end when someone ask me this,
-
My most delicate moment came when my grandmother told me about the gambling problem campaign we have going on here close to home whose motto is "Bet on you". When she said I should "bet on me" instead of playing poker my heart just sank. There was no way I was going to get into an argument with my fragile and good-hearted grandmother so I just told her life was good and I would remember what she said. Ironically, she taught me how to play cards when I was little. :)
-
I have had friends say that poker was 95% luck. They all say that it really just depends on the cards you are dealt. I always ask that if there is so much luck then how can there be any pros? They never can answer that.
-
omfg this. someone walks in and says this to me and makes me want to punch them. seems like no matter how many times i explain it, they continue to ask every time im playing.
-
yeah the obv "so did you win"? after I've been playing for an hour. It really tilts the shit out of me. It tilts me the most when a noob starts watching me over my shoulder and I get coolered 5 times in 3 mins or they start telling me how to play. "you got an ace go all in!"

Hahahaha. This. I've heard that said so many times.
Oh and when I told my mom I won $2700 one day her instaresponse was..."How much did you lose?".............. Um...?? $26? -
I like in SNG's when the blinds are 15/30 - you are on button with Q2 suited and open for a raise. The BB thinks you are stealing so he reraises you 3X, so you re-re-raise him half your stack just to let him know that you aren't gonna be pushed around. He jams and you snap call; he flips over KK (which is the top of his range) - so you hit your flush on the river, and he is calling you a stupid donk from the rail. You try to explain that you were priced in but you are wasting your breath trying to explain to these silly shove monkeys.

Friend came over then started thinking he knew what he was doing while I was playing
(dealt A rag in BB)
UTG Raises 3x BB
Button 3 bets 2.5x more
My turn-
"Dude just call watch it'll hit come on, man up"
I fold
UTG Shoves Button Snaps
QQ vs KK
Flop A A x
"Dude I fkn told you let me play this shit" -
What stakes do you play? Auto reg'd for any games you are in. Nice job not getting pushed around by those shove monkeys that think you're on a blind steal.

Doubt I'm gonna start folding to preflop re-raises at 15/30. Just giving them an invitation to run you over when the blinds go up and you need to steal to survive. Maybe you are a cash game player and don't understand the dynamics involved in SNG metagame.
-
Kellykip you must be leveling... please let me know what games u play if not!
-
So you fold in SNG's after half your stack is in pre-flop?

Yeah I completely realize that you are behind here 70% of the time, but you are suited so it is not hopeless, and a lot of opponents spaz off here with AK, so you have 2 live cards a decent % of the time. And if you win the hand, you have a pretty serious stack, AND people are much less likely to raise your BB light if they know you will defend. -
Please convince your friend to open an account and deposit money.

wow ur thinking just isnt logical... why would u 4 bet in that spot with a hand like that at 15/30 in a stt? Like i said before please let me know what games u play!
you also say people spaz with AK in that spot...lololololol
what would u be doing with q2? -
"well i play poker for a job actually. i made xx $/hr playing poker last year"
"SO YOU GET PAID A WAGE FROM THE POKER SITE?"
"no, over the year i made $xx thousand over a certain amount of hours and it figures out to be xx $/hr"
"... SO DO YOU EVER LOSE MONEY?"

People getting leveled ITT.
-
Relatively new to forums, pretty sure I've gotten the general gist of what "leveled" means and I assume this is a prime example. Nice post count tho.
-
like I said, I know I am only ahead of his hand about 30% of the time, but really the opponent will let go of a lot of hands that are ahead of mine when I show that much strength at 15/30. And if I do win the hand, which will happen a decent amount of time (vs AK for example), then I will be able to check flops OOP for pot control later on against opponents who have been paying attention and aren't brain dead.

Girlfriend's random family member: So, what do you do for a living?
Me: (Pause, hear we go again) I play poker
Girlfriend's random family member: (Puzzled look on their face) You what?
Me: I play poker
Girlfriend's random family member: What? You mean, like at a casino?
Me: Yes, mostly at a casino. I occassionally play online as well.
Girlfriend's random family member: Do you actually make money doing that?
Me: Ahhh, well, I don't do anything else
Girlfriend's random family member: But, can you actually make money doing that?
Me: Well, I don't do anything else
Girlfriend's random family member: (Enter their spouse) Hey (so and so), this guy
is a professional poker player
Girlfriend's random family member's spouse: He's a what?
Girlfriend's random family member: He's a professional poker player
Girlfriend's random family member's spouse: On really? Do you actually make money
doing that? -
1. Every time someone sucks out on TV, they go "Well, you see? That was pure luck just there". Tilts me to no end.
2. "What percentage is luck? Like 90%?"
3. "Why do you keep raising if you've only seen 2 cards?" -
Have you ever been on tv?
-
My mom asks me this every single time I ever say "I won x number of dollars the other day". One day she will get it and all will be right with the world.
-
omg why dont you withdraw?
