I am seeing a large number of talented female players today, I would not be surprised if one win wins the main event within five years.
-
I'll give you 10-1 they dont
-
playing at the Caesars mega stack this week 2 ladies made it to the final 4 in 1 event
-
Well when you consider that male players currently represent about 95% of the main event participants the odds of it happening within 5 years aren't very good. It could certainly happen though.
-
If I did my math right you would only need 2% of the players to be women given a 5 years period and 10-1 odds.Did more then 150 women play main event last year? Idk how you would find that out lol.
-
Ya but even still those odds would only hold true if all the players in the field had the exact same level of poker skill. Ahhh who am I kidding I guess the main is sort of a big donkfest when you consider that Yang and Gold were able to win it. To give my best KG impersonation-- Anything is possible!!!!!!
-
What do they do with their babies when they play?
-
If they can buyin for $10k, I'd imagine they can afford a baby sitter.
-
Very true. It's also probably likely that the skill of the average woman playing the ME is higher than the skill of the average man playing

id take big bets saying annette wins atleast one braclet next year
-
IMO many males tend to over exaggerate their poker ability as they do the length of their manhood.
-
I think the problem here is really the sheer numbers. I'm sure there are 100's of women that play in the ME that are good enough. But, even if you got the starting # to 1,000, the odds still wouldn't be that great.

It's much like having a 'name pro' win the main event. There are so few out there, that the sheer number of players swallow them up. Also, tournament poker is very streaky even day to day (look at how many of the November 9 didn't even make ESPN's coverage until there was about 100 left.
So, I don't think it's talent wise, I think it's just a numbers game working against women right now. -
Wait till next year when Annette is old enough!
-
locoenlacabeza ftw!
-
Are there 400 women in the field?
-
this thread ceriously lacks pics
-
If 5% of the entrants are female, and we assume they have the same average skill level (I think a convincing argument could be made that the average ME female entrant has a greater skill level than the average male ME entrant), then there is a 22.6% chance of a woman winning in the next 5 years.
-
Ya at 5% but I just threw that number out there for an estimate. The actual numbers are probably something in the 2-3% range. I seriously doubt that a female will win it in the next 15 years let alone 5 but that's just my opinion.
-
I definitely think Annette will win some bracelets though but the odds of her winning the main aren't good just because of the sheer size of the field. That's a lot of landmines to wade through.
-
Exactly, even the elite players are gonna need a shitton of luck to win the ME. In any field that big the variance is gonna be huge.
