  1. I just can't beat them. I used to crush Double-or-Nothings, then they got tougher, then they disappeared. I like Fifty50s because of the low variance but I'm breaking even at them. My cash rate is 55%, so I obviously don't finish first often enough.

I remember breaking even over a period of 1,000 or 1,500 $50 DONs, so perhaps I'm just on a break-even stretch since I started them. Obviously they are profitable for some, as the Sharkscope leaderboard demonstrates.

Any advice? Obviously I play tight early. I have my stats, so I'm able to fold AQ, AJ, and 99- to someone who raises only 5% of their hands. Every time I raise it's a min raise except at the first level where I 2.5x. On the bubble if I am not chip leader I treat the tournament as if it were a double-or-nothing, I try to squeeze in. But if I am chip leader I purposely take forever to fold or raise my hand so that the blinds go up faster and I can steal more later on. I shove any 2 from any position if there is a super shorty. If the stacks are something like $1,200 each and $6,000 for me on the bubble I am careful about which hands I shove.

I think I'm playing them okay, I just don't know where my leak is. Maybe I should take a day off and watch jasonkobe crush them or something. Anyways, any advice would be much appreciated. I don't want to give up online poker but I'm inches away from doing so because, it seems, I might not have a choice.

You will bust more often by being aggressive at 6 or 7 players but you should make more money by finishing with bigger pay-off. I would only be folding to cash with other players that cannot make the blinds that are immediately coming up.

Getting a larger stack is where your pay-off comes in.
  3. Thanks a lot! I'll try them again and be more aggressive even if I'm not chip leader.

  4. i don't see a reason why you should quit.from what i understand it's a variance or you're playing a bit too tight.If you used to crush Don's i don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to crush 50/50.

  5. What stakes are you playing at these fifty/50s?
  6. Do you ever try a laggier style during early rounds vs fish if position favours it.
  7. 55% success rate isn't too bad. But delaying decisions to increase blinds is kinda bad etiquette.
  8. Anyone else play a ton of these at higher stakes can tell me if the games are very hard now? I checked leaderboard and it seems like there aren't winners anymore like in dons
