I think you can get away from marginal spots like this if your picking up blinds pretty easily, no?
-
ya i fold here. last night i watched tilthappens raise to 4200 from mid pos at 1k/2k, the nig blind jammed 50k in, and tilthappens snap called with KJdd. obv not completely relevant to this thread but just a hand i found interessting if he thought call was correct

Folding here is really really really really really really bad.

He is the BB, therefor last to act. -
the old me folds.
the new me calls unless the shover is a true nit, been looking for FTP to have a badge for the "True Nit" but haven't seen it yet. -
I think I call or not depending on how the guy got so low in chips. If the guy is nit and just blinding chips, this is an easy fold.
You need like 43% equity to call and thats breakeven if you assign villain the following range:
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 42.699% 40.68% 02.02% 177604272 8835360.50 { KdJd }
Hand 1: 57.301% 55.28% 02.02% 241362527 8835360.50 { 22+, A3s+, KTs+, QJs, A4o+, KJo+ }
-

dont think i could disagree with this more.....this is the early 10c on ftp if im not mistaken.....probably one of the softer tournies on the internet, and your advising calling off a suggested nit in a spot where you will rarely be in very good shape.....
im certainly folding here, happily in fact and moving on to crushing bubbles and taking down pots without showdown -
what? villain shoves 8bb from the cutoff and we're thinking about folding KJ sooted in the bb?

Villain has only 3 orbits left with 2,000/8,000/16,000 (escalation coming up soon?) and should be looking for an unopened pot to shove a very wide range of hands that you should be ahead of with JK suited. Theredor I would call. But if you think he is really nitty and would only shove pocket pairs or Ax I guess a fold is okay.
-
He had A6 and it held. He was playing nitty from 3 tables down. In the future I think I'm folding in this same type of situation because I felt I was the best player and was winning pots preflop pretty easily. Ahh oh well...fire up another batch of mtts.
-
normally im happy going with it here...however OP claims villain is tight....from what ive seen, tight players get low as 5-6 bbs before they decide to start shoving super light at this stage, sometimes even lower.

its not as if villain is a reg..just think there are better spots to pick up chips in this particular situation -
omg u sound like a complete tool cotchery, just because he is a "nit" doesnt mean he necesarily dont know good push/fold game
Edited By: MakeMeMaster Aug 4th, 2010 at 01:55 AM
and we get like 1,5 to 1 on a call so we need to be 40% against his range to make the call profitable.
Even a nit with no clue of good push/fold game would shove like 22+, A8s+, ATo+, KTs+, KJo+, QJs (and only shoving that is absolutely horrid but w/e)
We are 41% against that range
and these days the average "nit" is gonna shove much wider so as i said folding here is really really really really really really bad.
and we also have him covered with 5 billion chips -
Call always because your name is J Gold1 and even if you're behind, you will suck out because you're Jamie Gold.
-
doubt id ever fold a royal draw here
-
You're thinking about this wrong. This is a +ev call against >90% of online players. Make the +ev call and take every edge you can. Your edge comes from exploiting spot after spot, not from waiting for the perfect situation.
