  1. Obviously I am either shoving or folding here. The only thing that is throwing me off is that i'm in first position and there are 8 people to act behind me. In middle/late position this is an easy shove. What do you do here though? Also, what hands are you shoving from this position? AA,KK, and ak obviously, anything else? qq? Thanks for all advice.

  2. I think this is where tournament theory kicks in. How much do you gain by doubling up versus losing it all given the prize structure and all that. My gut tells me this may actually be a spot where you could fold AQ, but perhaps someone more clued in than me (which is most of you) can do the math breakdown???
  3. I would want the short stack to come in, also AQ is not a bad hand to start with, having said that shoving is not an option IMO from UNG. You raise 2.5 times BB here and only KK and AA or AK, QQ come over the top, covering you, so if short stacks come in its good for you if a bigger stack puts you all in you have to fold leaving you with around 5K. so there is a 3rd option of raising from UNG showing a very strong hand, SB and BB both are less than you so you call them. If anyone else comes you can still fold.

I wouldn't be so sure about those calling ranges and are you really saying that raise/folding over 1/4 of your chips here is the best play? W/o running the numbers I think this is a shove.

I definitly agree that raising pre and possibly folding is wrong. But just to be clear, you are saying shove even though it's first position?

  6. I went out like this in a 180 man FT with AQ to AK... At least i gave myself a choice and then i played it wrong by calling it. I would raise it to something like 1900 total. Then make the decision if a raise then know at best you are racing for your tourney. If called represent with a stop and go. If you have to fold you still have 5500 in chips and you are still one double up from the leader. IMO. I just think you can't fold... calling is pointless... all in is too dangerous.
  7. You have an M of 4.5. In the next two hands you're going to have to fork over another 1300 chips in blinds and antes. You don't have any other play but shoving.

This is a classic example of where you could either shove now and see what happens, or sit tight, hope people get eliminated, but ultimately end up saying "I wish I had played that A-Q".
  8. This is a very standard shove. The End.
