absolutely sick spot here. any reads on this player? w/o reads, I don't think you can call here. what can he possibly have that he would raise on the river, but check the turn. unless he has A4 (unlikely) or K(c)-X, we are no good here. you haven't invested too much of your stack here, so I think you can find a fold. I just think we are going to see the nuts here WAY too often for a call to be +EV. again this is w/o reads, in the end you have to determine what this player is capable of. could he really be putting his tourney life on the line on a bluff. would he really check his two pair hands/sets on the turn, and then raise them on the river for value?
-
Do you really think he has 46?
-
no chance he has 46, if 46 is even in his range snap-call cause he's terrible..
-
?? he may have a4 45 or even missed clubs.oh three clubs on flop...... didnt notice. tough spot for sure i think a fold here wouldnt be too bad.
-
Ouch! you have $66,777 in already and its $100,706 to call a $249,660 pot - ~2.5:1 (a touch less). I can see a strong line that he flopped it and just a good a line for AxKc, other Kc or a flopped set or As up. If you call it and loose you are in Push/Fold mode but not dead, if you call and win you move up to a solid top 3 spot. If you fold it you have changed places with him - not a great but still alive.
2.5x pre and a touch over a 1/4 on the flop and check the turn. You played it so weak you don't have a good feel for his hand. On the other hand he'll for sure think you are on a busted draw and can't call a raise.
Sick as it is, given the pot and the play, unless you have a great read you didn't mention, I think you have to call this one.
my 2 cents -
I ended up calling here with the straight. Guy flopped the flush with Queen Jack Clubs. Pretty well played by him, especially since he didn't bet the turn. He raises flop or bets turn its an easy fold for me. I'm just sick over this hand. As I look back on it, I think the best play would have been checking the river and calling his value bet. I probably would have lost a lot less and I also pick up the pot in case he's making a bluff at it. He pushes all in on the river and I didn't bet, well that would have been a horrific spot as well. By the way, I knew he didn't have 4 6 lol....didn't really think twice about that. I did however consider the flush. Any other suggestions on how to play this hand differently would be greatly appreciated.

I like check call on river, as it allows him to bet hands he may not call with, and we have good showdown value.
-
yes. we can thank skkills for that brilliant suggestion. : )

How about fold 4-4 pre-flop, which doesn't play well against most hand ranges, and wait for a better spot? In the meantime, u prob lose another player or two, and move up. With that flop, it's hard to even CB the hand.
-
I don't see anything wrong with open-raising 44 7 handed from mid/late. The ~1/4 pot bet on the flop was sick - I think a 27k-30k c-bet on the flop and fold a raise or abandon to a call is the correct line.
