  1. i'll admit that i never captured 1st place in an mtt but final tabled a dozen times. i usually, just wait for premiums and start icm shoving <10bb, and hope that others get ko'd before me. what should be thinking about to actually win? or is final table really about the cards you're dealt. this is a typical ft for me. i'm in 9th place with 13bb.

  2. That hand is standard as they come. The key is chipping up around the FT bubble so you're not so short-stacked. Keep at it. Variance will work itself out if you are playing well.
  3. i would imagine if you are usually a short stack at the final table you should be more aggressive with 2 or 3 tables left while short handed, looking for spots to 3 bet people pre flop that you think might be opening light for example, while at the final table if you are coming in short stacked there isnt too much you can do but look for opportunities to shove your hands preferrable in real early or real late position, but you do have to catch some cards if short stacked, it is much easier to take down 1st if you start with an average or above stack than starting with a short stack. so open up your game when short handed and become more aggressive, you may not make quite as many final tables this way but when you do you will be in position to win more often which in the long run should equate to much more winnings. gl gl
  4. see previous post- get more aggro with 2 3 tables left
    also on ft dont just wait 4 others 2 bust and 4 u to jump in payout; u cant fold your way to 1st place
    dont force things but dont be a nit either
    focus a lot, sharkscope the players, play both th3e cards and the situations
    As 4 the icm stuff, what i know abpout ft ranges- way tighter calling ranges than cEV- that s not surprising
    And also slightly tighter shoving ranges also; but that depends; i mean u gotta know stuff about opponents; if bb is a loose fish we re not gonna shove 80% vs him with 10bbs; but if we know he s scared money we prolly should;
  5. Dont Jst get agressiv with 3 tables left be more aggressive as soon as u start the tournament or at least when ante's kick in

    You make more money takin advantage of peoples playing habits as opposed to gettin hands n hoping u get value
  6. Yup 2 posters before me got it- I totally amp up my aggression (as long as I have a decent/average stack) with 20 or so left. You typically see me get busted 8th-15th and 1st-3rd, because of the aggression. Remember, your not playing for 2nd or 3rd, your playing for 1st....This is why I get knocked out on the FT bubble or around there because I'm trying to accumulate a good stack so I can bully the table with my big stack, and if I lose a hand where I thought the play was +EV and get knocked out, so be it.

    You wont see me folding a bunch of hands just to money up and make sure I get 5th place money, I'm making a lot of moves based on table dynamics/ chip stacks and just focus on what players are doing so I can take 1st.
