1. Hand from a live $50 + 1RB + 1 Add-on. 5k starting chips and the rebuy and add-on each give an additional 5k. Blinds start at 50/100. First 2 levels are 45 mins then all other levels are 30 mins.

Low turnout so only 25 players in the tourney. Total prize pool $2,900. 3 prizes: 1st $1450, 2nd $870, 3rd $580. I am in for the full $150.

At the final table of 10 players the blinds start at 600/1200 (no antes in this tournament). Total chips in play 290k. Average is therefore 29k. I start with 27k.

During first 30 mins I have raised 3 times. Twice opening 2.5x with AK from early position and once I raised to 3.2x with A9 after 1 limper. All 3 times everyone folded and we saw no flop and I did not show my hands. The table is generally playing pretty tight so far.

Early in the second level of 800/1600 (still 10 players) I am up to 32k and on the button in Seat 10. All folds to Seat 9 who limps in (same guy I raised with A9 earlier after he open limped). I have 74o on the button and decide to limp in. SB completes and the BB checks so we have 6400 in the pot.

Flop comes 10s 8c 6s. The SB (45k) leads out for 3500. The BB (50k) calls. The Seat 9 limper (35k) calls. Now it’s me to act with my double belly buster (5 or 9 needed). There is now 16900 in the pot. I am thinking that the SB has got something decent to be leading out. I put both the BB and Seat 9 callers on some kind of draw or a weak paired hand and am convinced these 2 will fold here if put under pressure. It is really the SB I am worried about. I have played with him many times before and he will definitely make bets “to find out where he is” in a hand.

I decide that I can get him to fold a ten with a good kicker and any other one pair hands if I raise on a semi-bluff here. I am very sure the other two will fold (neither are ever going to slow play 2 pair, a set or a flopped straight on that 2 spade board – I have played with both many times) which will chase out the flush draws so if I do get called I should have the full 8 outs for my straight draw. Seat 1 and some others at the table definitely perceive me to be a loose player who likes to steal which complicates things. In fact, Seat 1 actually thinks I’m a crazy calling station due to me calling him down (correctly) several times with marginal hands over the last few months (incidentally, his bets in those hands didn’t make sense based on the previous action).

I decide to raise to 20500 (3.5k with another 17k) and leave myself 10k behind. I am really committing myself to this hand now and will not fold. I re-raise an intermediate amount rather than all-in trying to indicate extreme strength. The SB thinks for less than 10 seconds and moves all in. The other 2 fold and I stick in my last 10k. The pot is now 74200 after I call.

My question: is my re-raise on the flop a good spot for a semi-bluff or just a suicide mission with 7 high?
2. I think a call on the flop would of been nice, I think shoving there isn't good as someone could be slow play a set, I say calling on the flop is the best route then you can deck on the turn if you miss. If you hit though you can get paid bigtime
3. I considered just calling the 3500 flop bet. However, I am 95% sure that the 2 flop callers in the hand are never slow-playing two pair or a set in this situation. I am only really worried about the original SB bettor (he could have 2 pair or a set as well as a good 10 or a big combo draw). My logic for re-raising is that there is already 16,900 in the pot at this point and I could take it down on the flop (50% stack increase) without a showdown.

If I flat call the 3500 I really need a off-suit 5 or 9 on the turn and even then this could actually have helped one of the 2 callers who I suspect are also drawing. However, I am not sure about the hand which is why I posted it and I am keen to get some opinions on it. Would anyone else advocate a flop call rather than a re-raise?

4. I really don't like any of it to be honest. Fold pre. But since that didn't happen, fold post. You're only $1600 in after limping in. Let it go. Look for a better spot. Let somebody else make this play and go busto. You're trying to get paid, not win an award for most creative play. You said that some at the table see you as a stealer, so you're probably going to get called by T9+ or a decent flush draw. Even Qs8s could be calling you here if they really think you're just making a stab at stealing the pot. I feel like you should wait and get your money in with a better shot at winning the pot. There are very very few hands that you're ahead of here.
5. i think limping in preflop is pointless and dumb.... i also dont like your raise on the flop i think u should call if u can get away from ur straight if the flush also comes(if not just fold on the flop then).... people already percieve you as a little crazy.... you have enough chips to wait a little while for a better steal spot or a donation from a donk..... i think a/ your going to get called to often based on your image(by top pair or two pair which 1 of the others could easily have) and b/ i would prefere a better draw(i.e a nut draw or a pair and a straight/flush draw) ... i have personally found that semi bluff plays dont work as well live because(atleast at the casino I play at) people are giant call stations... so i make most of my chips from straight value bets and letting them call down drawing thin
6. This is a super crappy spot to try anything fancy if you can't fold to a push. You don't want to see a 9 even if it isn't a spade (QJ spades isn't going anywhere on this board) and only 3 of the 5s are really good for you whatever you may hope, also you can so easy be drawing dead to a 97 (if you can play rags so can they, SB easy - BB ATC) but the hands to fear with your hand is J9 or J7 spades and the sets. So maybe 6 outs and you are drawing to the wrong end of the str8 1/2 the time anyway - sick spot. On the other hand 16900 in and only 3500 to call plus you have position and plenty of chips out to pay you if you hit. Pre flop either fold 74o as the rags they are or raise it from the button to 4x or 4.5x, you'll make the blinds pay to play rags and maybe you'll get the turn for free. On the flop call and draw cheep or just fold from all the negative implied - I like the second line, high nevative implied always bites me.
my 2 cents
