Hi Guys,
Feeling pretty pleased with myself today. I won my first live multi table tourny win last night!
Two of my friends play here quite regularly, and they have been bugging me for a few weeks to go down and play.
I have never played at any of these poker clubs (only tournys, no cash games due to licensing restrictions), as i prefer to play at the casino in cash games as I find i regularly come away roughly 300-500 a night when i play on the weekends. (i just wish i was as good when i play online :(
Anyways,
I make it to the final table, both of my friends do as well. To be honest one of them is seriously shortstacked and got their by the skin of his teeth. (1 b/b only or 6k in chips.) He busts out and I am sitting in about third at this point.
two hands later i am dealt pocket 10's in the small blind. I opt just to call, as the villain in the BB is extremely aggressive and I am 99% he is raising this to try and steal the blinds. True to form he raises it from 6K to 20K. I flat call him again, rather than shoving as I know I am putting my money in regardless of the flop after a check -all in move. I was so sure he had nothign that I was worried an all in over the top wouldnt get me a call.
Flop comes a Magical 10s 7c 4h . . . .
I check, he goes all in for 30k - ish . . . . instant call from me. he has me coverd by around 7K or so. We roll them, he has 6c - 4d.
I was feeling very good the way i played this.
after a few more levels (and one guy who i am convinced was a phoenix, finally busting) I am heads up with my friend who I have not played alot of poker against to be honest, but i know he is fairly tight.
I have roughly 70% of the chips in play, after a bit of preflop raising with medicore hands, he decides to make a stand with his Ac 6c, I have Ah 10s so i make the call.
We both flop and ace and the board runs out with no help to either of us . . .
Aposta87 = very happy with his $1800 first place prize! (by far my biggest tourny win)
Sorry if this dragged on a bit . . . . just thought i would share the good rather than the bad I read about in the bad beats section.
Thanks Guys,

Congrats on your win, it's always a nice feeling.

This is one of the accomplishments I have yet to do out of the long list, but definitely would be awesome to do. The tournaments closest to where I live don't get this high I don't think. Congrats on your accomplishment. Question though....why would you not reshove the TT? You said he raised to 20k, leaving 30k behind? If he folds he's a complete idiot leaving 5 bb or so. What would you do if the flop came AKQ? What if he raised Q3? IMO I would just reshove pre but nice flop anyway :)

Hi, To be honest with you whilst i was playing the hand I was running this thought through my head knowing that irdnarily the right move in a blind vs blind situation is to shove here. Against any other play at the table this would have been my move. (i was actually reading about this exact situation a few days earlier on pocketfives and had taken notice of the advice given by many of the guys who said this was an instant shove)
I do know he is capable of raising the pot with a rubbish queen rag, but i was fairly certain I knew where I was in this hand. He looked very uncomfortable with my call pre flop. I suppose the bottom line is if it is a picture flop I have a massive decision to make when he shoves, I may have lead out betting to see where I am in the hand rather than check, as I know he will only call if he has hit, and to be honest if he does have Q rag or something like that, its always going to be difficult for me to get away from the hand.

I suppose the poker gods were kind! -
Is this another post about how to misplay poker and win? Damn it!

Ok fair enough, I accept what you are saying. I am open to contructive critisicm here. So i presume you agree regardless of the player, i should be shoving here and not worrying about trying to get value for my hand?
I am open to any advice that is offerred,
Thanks,

Yup instead of playing online like we know and love we players of the midwest get stuck with bad structured live tournaments because of this fking govt. Christ there goes my plans/dreams/goals/aspirations. Guess I'm moving out to Las Vegas and s.hit so I can get a decent tournament. Oh wait I'll just move out of the country forget that. DON'T PAY TAXES NOWWWWWWWWWW. lolz.
