  1. I am just going to re-create this hand as best I can. Please bear with me.

    .25/.50 NL FTP 9 handed
    Me(BB) $70
    Other Guy(SB) $60
    DEAL: (8d8s)
2 limpers from mid and CO
    SB calls
    BB(me) checks

    Pot $2(1.90 rake)
    FLOP: As Qd Jh

    Action:
    SB checks
    BB (me) checks
    Mid Po checks
    CO checks

    Turn: 8h

    Action:
    SB bets $1
    BB (me(88)) Raises to $4
    2 other fold
    SB calls $3

    River: Qs

    Action:
    SB bets $5
BB Raise to $28 (figured him for Q10)
    SB Re-Raises to $55
    BB folds to $28 bet

Can there be a hand I can beat?
Should I pay this bet off regardless?
Any and all input is appreciated
  2. This is a tough one. You are losing to: AQ, QJ, QQ, JJ, AA, Q8. I think we can discount AA and QQ which would usually be raised preflop. You are beating KQ, QT, KT, none of which should put in this reraise here. So, I think this is usually a fold unless you are playing against a major donk who would do this with a straight or open trips on this board.
  3. Another $27 is a pretty hefty bet to make a crying call on for a $43 pot. About all he can have that you can beat is KQ or QT, both of which fit fairly well into the way the hand played out. So, of course, does QJ or Q8. You may have been folding the best hand there, but I don't think you made a bad fold.

What you did make, however, was a bad raise on the river. Without the stone nuts (or at least closer to the stone nuts than you had), raising the river is a bad idea, IMO, in NL cash play. Also, don't ever use the "Bet Pot" button. Ever. You committed $23 to the pot and still had no idea what to do once he came back at you. You could have found out the same thing for another $8-10 instead of another $23.

    Welcome to P5s.

  4. Thanks for the input. BTW
That wasn't the bet pot I just decided that was what he would call with just the Q, but I def see your point. Say I did raise $10 more, does it make it an eaiser fold when dude does the same thing?
