  1. Hey guys, first post here. Been playing online poker for a little over a year semi seriously. Recently (last 6 months) ive gotten way more into it, educating myself about the game and so on. Along the way finding P5s and lurking the discussion forum for awhile now. Hope to get to know some of you guys, hopefully, everyone here seems really helpful.

I've recently been playing pretty much all .50/1 LHE 10 seat ring games, after finding I wasnt particularly good at short handed. I started at .25/.50 with about 40 dollars on my account. Then moved up when I found the 1 dollar games to be of about the same skill level that I could beat and I have wound up at the end of 2 weeks rounding my roll up to a little more than 400 dollars. I've taken 2 shots at 1/2 tables and have gotten shot down pretty much I recently got pokertracker and that leads in to my question. I dont believe I have enough sample hands in it to currently get a good idea of any of the stats long term or anything but I like it keeping track of sessions and overall how im doing and everything a lot, things that I wouldnt find as particularly interesting tracking say, tournament statistics. Ive read Fox's article about the stats, but i was wondering what is a good bb/100 hands rate i should be aiming towards? Or should i be judging how good i am doing mainly based on another statistic? Any tips or pointers of what to do with all the info ill be getting based on the fact that im mainly a beginner at ring games and limit but feel i can decently grasp concepts about poker. Basing this on the fact that when i think back to how much I knew about poker in general even 2 months ago I feel like ive gained a lot of knowledge.

Any pointers or tips anyone can give me would be great, thanks for your time reading this ridiculously long post.
  2. The next two paragraphs are backround on my poker experience which I was going to include in the question but it got pretty lengthy, I figured I would reply with it incase it helped anyone with knowing my experience and how i got to where I am right now with poker skill.

Anyway onto a little backround about my question. I started off online playing basically all dime NLHE tables first on hollywood poker, then on pokerstars with very little poker knowledge. In between switching sites I had started playing some 1 table SnGs on hollywood and then later on pokerstars, and after awhile mixed in some of the 180 person 4.40 sit n gos. All the way my skill has improved and ive had some mild sucess for this limit in FTing maybe about 10 4.40s and getting first, second, and third in them etc. I won a 3.30 tournament on stars semi recently and that was my first MTT first place, aside from one before in a 4.40, but my first and so far only MTT win.

This is getting to be a long backround but is mostly just about how I got to the point where I am now, so my question might come into context. Every time I would get a decent cash I would usually play a bunch of tournaments badly and then be busto again, and have to take maybe the half of the win I had cashed out back into pokerstars. So after all this i am saying that im not a winning player, I would place myself in the slight loser category. Whenever I would have spare money on my account, but not enough time for an MTT or sometimes not even enough for a single table SNG, I would sometimes enter a NL ring game around .25/.50 or .50/1.00 and eventually this is a huge down fall of mine, because I would either become a winner in the game and then lose all i was sitting with or just a temporary for the day winner and the next day lose all i gained and then some. Recently through reading some sklansky books ive gotten interested in limit games a lot more, not just holdem but mainly so. So I tried some of them out, 1 dollar horse tournaments, razz, stud, and LHE. This brings me to now.
