  1. $30 SNG/ 1 table : Pacific Poker: 5 handed

    SB had been somewhat aggressive with his chiplead and had been raising my BB almost everytime.

    Blinds 25/50

    UTG = 1055
    CO = 2340
    Button = 500
    SB = 3952
    Hero (BB) 2078

    Dealt to Hero = 78

    Folded to sb who raises to 100
    Hero calls
    Pot = 200

    Flop = J 10 9

    SB bets = 248
    Hero raises = 646

    SB waits full time limit and then folds

    Could I have extracted more chips by calling or mini raising? I chose to raise because of the possible flush draw and higher straight draw.

    Your thoughts?
  2. When it's heads up play , you shouldn't be as fearful about draws . There is a decent chance this person is drawing dead on the flop . I definitely would have smooth called him if he's as aggressive as you say he is . On the turn , I would put him to the test with a raise .
  3. My philosophy is - Never second-guess the way you played a winning hand.

    After all, you never know until he Folds whether he has a hand or not. Say you smooth-called, and the Turn is another Club... he may have just made his Flush, where your Push on the Flop made it too expensive for him to try.

    Even if another Club doesn't help him, you know he'd fire at the pot again. Would you be able to Call the last of your chips with only the silly end of a Straight when your opponent is representing a Flush?
  4. The advantages to raising on the flop is that it's possible your opponent hit a piece of the flop and may call you down . If he has ace jack or king jack he may even put in a re-raise .
