  1. 2/5 NL hodem in tunica.

i had been sitting in the main game for approximatley 2 1/2 hours. i had flopped a set early to win a big pot... then played a pot w Q9 and flop was Q high all diamonds... i reraised the live one thinking my pair was good... turned two pair bet again and got a call... river was a non diamond ace... the live one bet the size of the pot, i called and won a big pot

i tell u this so u get an idea of my table image at the time

    the following hand came up
i had approx 1400 in play
villain had at least 600(he was playing bills so i dont know for sure)

several limpers... i look at 55 in the cut off and limp as well. The button makes it 20 to go. one caller before me... i call

    Flop: 5 5 J (no flush draw) Pot: $82
a guy from early position bets out 60
    i smooth call... everyone folds
[the player who bet the flop i had learned was a proffesional card player (just from sitting at the table w/ him for 2 1/2 hrs) the only hand i saw him show down was AA which all the money went in preflop. he took someones stack of about 350.]

    Turn: 5 5 J 4 Pot: $202
    he checks... i check

    River: 5 5 J 4 J Pot: $202
    he bets $100

    what is ur play know?

i will reply with my action and the outcome of the hand

    thanks for the input
  2. If's he's got a jack then he'll pay you off pretty good right? I'd just put him all in and hoped he had a jack. He's got $400 left and you'd make the pot $700 ish so unless he is good enough to put you on quads, he'll pay it....at least I would.

    What happened?
  3. Raise a little amount, say to $250. He may be betting a naked ace here, or any pocket pair above fives. You don't want him to fold those to your all-in. If he does have a jack he's likely to push you in figuring it'll be split at worst and not even considering quads (or accepting that he'll have to pay you off if you do have them). To summarize: He holds a J - you push, he calls, you scoop a big pot; you raise a little, he pushes, you call and win the same amount. He holds an ace or 66+ - you push, he folds, you win nothing extra; you raise a little, he likely calls, you win a little extra. Seems simple enough to me. Good luck!

  4. after he bet 100 i raised 100 more. he called and mucked his hand when i rolled over pocket fives.

  5. I like the little reraise, figuring he will reraise all in with the jacks, as Matty says
  6. I think you could try the all in as well, all in looks like more of a bluff than min raising or value betting. You could have value bet the turn and then all in on river to make it look like you missed as well.

You probably did about as well as you could have if he is a pro he can get away from a big hand
