How do I get more value? or is this line ok? -
Definitely check...IDK why you decided to lead pot into the big blind. Make it look like the pot is going to go uncontested and see if either his hand improves or he tries to scoop on later streets.

flopped a straight in ring game yesterday. bet the turn and got drawn out by running cards for a flush. gl dont get coolered!
-
you gotta look for a cr here if its heads up, if its a multi-way pot then ur line is ok but not here
-
Well you don't want to see a heart, 8 or 10 as those cards will either kill your hand or kill your action. That's not many cards so I'd check. I think you can give him a chance to catch up but on the turn I would be finished getting cute.
