Well 11 days into real buy in No Limit Poker in South Florida.
Edited By: clovus Jul 21st, 2010 at 09:09 PM
Cash Games where the action is and best places to play
ISLE in Pompano Nicest Room with chairs and size but noisy at peak times.
Palm Beach Kennel Club Great place to play poker.
Poker Atmosphere and Staff is very professional.
My favorite players are usually there better fast food than the Isle and open 24 hours on weekends. The Isle has a very nice classy restaraunt Farradays and they give you 1 to 1.25 per hour on your players card.
The buffet is hit or miss but you can earn enough points in a marathon session to eat free daily.
No perks at Palm Beach but easy money makes up for it.
PARKING
Hard Rock after the recent security problems I will not play there out of prinicple till they get new chairs and tables and fix the parking problem with valet at $8 is a rip off. You must walk to the garage to retrieve your valet car and they dont tell you. There is a $20 quick valet too.
ISLE has FREE VALET.
Palm Beach Kennel Club as a Free lot at the entrance late night and $1 day time. Valet $3 Handicapped FREE.
Rakes
2/5 Game is best at the ISLE in Pompano EV wise on drops
$5 Max + 1 Bad Beat Drop NO FLOP NO DROP so it is a good EV to steal blinds
10 Players per table.
2/5 Game at the Kennel Club Is a little looser with 9 players but always takes a rake.
Same as the Isle but no added EV by choping blinds or Not seeing a Flop.
Best $5-10 Game and Rakes PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB in my opinion.
Isle is $500 to $1500 Buy in Time Rake $6 Per Half hour ( must move table to join peak times)
Palm Beach Kennel Club 5-10 $500 to $2500 Buy in Max Rake $5 per pot or 10%
Also runs a $100 to $300 5/10 game that the old players still frequent. Lots of big pots and shove fest but defeats the purpose of big stack poker. It is still a profitable game.
Hard Rock $500 to $2000 Buy in ( have heard $9 per Half hour but site says rake) Not sure of the amount.
Isle Charges $6 per half hour and with this the NO FLOP NO DROP is negated.
At the Isle inorder to get in the big games 5 10 you must play at a must move table and they can run short handed sometimes 5 or 6 players making it very expensive to play per orbit if your a tight player. 30 hands per hour and if there are only 5 or 6 players your seeing the blinds 6 times X $15 minimum =$90 + $12 rake cost per hour short handed $102 + $1 per pot where you drop the bad beat.
Palm Beach has a brand new corral area with new nice chairs and felted tables. I find this game is the friendliest and easiest to sit at in South Florida. Up to 3 high stake games running at a time and big stacks on the table. A couple of $10,000 pots pushed in the last 10 days.
The dealers at the Isle do not like dealing the $10/$20 No Limit. Players are very cheap with tips and chip runners tend to get bigger tips than the dealers. This is true in Las Vegas too. The higher the stakes the less tips per dealer.
Late Night Poker Friday and Saturday Nights.
Best after 2 AM Palm Beach Kennel Club as the bar is open till 5 Am and reopens at 7 am
Biggest crowds at the ISLE on the $2-5 game from 8 to 2 Am and tends to be very tight or a loose game if no regulars playing.
Well No limit has arrived and bank roll management is now the key to poker in South Florida. I have increased my bank roll 40% since July 1st with only 1 losing session in 10.
ISLE FLORIDA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Satellites running at $120 per person usually every day at noon.
Tuesday Evenings at 7 30 PM Starts with 4500 chips plus $10 add 1000 chips on for dealers and tends to play like a sit an go if only ten players. Some have had up to 36 players so it is hit or miss.

The first one in 2008 got 270 players
In 2009 they broke it up into tow Day 1s and got around 280 at 800 buy ins if I remember correctly.
This one should get at least 250 players now that the limits are higher in Florida I expect to see a lot of out of state pros come into town in the next month.
The problem is the sattys are not running that full so not too many seats given away.
The Isle would rather run their more profitable cash games.
August will be the guage to see if all the Las Vegas players saying they are coming to Florida actually come.
I have seen a lot of new faces at the ISLE but most say they are Hard Rock refugees after the bad publicity last week.
Most of the cash players are now calling the ISLE home. -
where are the softest 10/20 or 10/25 games?
-
hollywood hardrock also has a series thing coming up, a 2200 250k with day 1s on july 31st and august 1st, prolly end up playing that and this.
-
I dont know why your knocking the hard rock but they have huge games going also and the tourneys are good, Yeah the Valet thing is a pain but when the Isle gets packed good luck sitting there waiting for the lane to move, and self parking is like 100 ft from the valet ramp ...Isle and Hard Rock are the best 2 Casinos to play at in South Florida for Cash Games and Tourneys...

5/10 game was awesome at the Palm Beach Kennel Club last night in the Corral.
Edited By: clovus Jul 19th, 2010 at 04:23 AM
Steve a multimillionaire player that will call all shoves with any two cards was there with his bag of cash.
He dropped over 25 k on Friday and last night was up + 20 K if my count was right.
The game was wild and comparable to what you see on High Stakes Poker action wise but not money wise.
Many of the all in plays heads up were run 2 or 3 times with the house allowing multiple flops.
The game was a 5/10 with mandatory straddle and the right for an uncapped restraddle more than once.
A couple of 3 to 5 K pots while I was on the table but the best I could do was a 1600 pot after a 4 hour wait to get on the table. By then I was burnt but Steve is a money magnet and the calls go out when he is at a table as all the big money wants a piece.
Great week in South Florida. Bank Roll doubled in less then 18 days. -
nice post man... been to hard rock in hollywood and absolutely hated the place, most incompetent poker staff ever! seemed like a bunch of McD's employees running the place!

Reason: left out casino name ... dumbass obv -
dont hate on McD's!

Edited By: clovus Jul 19th, 2010 at 06:03 PMThe Hard Rock food staff is separate from the poker room. During a hand last year with me in the SB I flop a set on an A 2 4 board. A waitress serving food to another player takes my book, soda and water bottle off a small table next to me and proceeds to put them on top of my cards to use the table for some one else.Originally Posted by jusqwan

Of course I get distracted looking for a place to put all my stuff and asked her why she didnt grab another table 5 feet away against the wall. Her reply was I did not own the table.
The other player had trip As and shoved. I shoved too with out looking or realizing that this player whom was a rock was in the hand.
Complaints to the staff went mute. Not the bad play but how can a waitress interupt a hand, put my things on top of my cards and NO ONE says a thing. The management said they kitchen staff was separate and they could not reprimand them. They had a separte female manager whom also never apologized or even cared.
Next The Seats at Hard Rock are horrible and the tables have NO Leg room underneath. With the billions they make they can afford nice chairs and tables ala Mardis Gras or Isle. Staff allows certain players there carte blanche and they talk foreign languages to each other during the hand.
Collusion has been reported on numerous occasions in MTTs at the Hard Rock and the same reported players are still there playing cash.
My advice is if you live South of Pompano or Palm Beach play at the Mardis Gras or even Gulfstream. Nicer tables and Chairs and never have heard the horror stories of people getting robbed in the Garage or followed home ( Twice Reported) from the Hard Rock. ( More incidents not reported ) as the Indians are a soverign nation. No arrests yet in the last robbery of a player in his driveway. -
I play a good amount at Tampa Hard Rock and Really like the place is the one in Hollywood comparable? Just curious cause I think I might go down to the isle to play my first ever string of tourneys!
Wish me luck if I make the 3 hour drive I got relatives that live in boca and they said I could stay there during the tourney.
I got a question how far is it away from boca? -

Not too far at all. I'm gonna be staying in Boca for the series (as well as the Hard Rock ones)
Shoot me a pm if you make it out there, im always up for meeting other people from my area to talk poker with -
I play on Hard Rock as my home turf... as i live 5 minutes away...
Clovus' descriptions of the regulars are quite accurate, the food and the waitresses in the card room are the worst I've encountered.
The tables have 0 room for your feet
All in all though, its a really nice room and the action is too good to pass up, I lose there 1/5 times -
I have heard the action is good. Went to Gulfstream this weekend and found a loose 2/5 game. The 5 10 only had one table going day time. They say night time there is more action.
Any feedback on the Mardis Gras and Flagler Dog Track any one.
Best games? Best time to play and get action on the 2/5 or 5/10 games? -
I'm so upset this happened 3 years after I graduated college at FAU and moved back to NY....GL THO
-
Will do man It's my grandpa obv "boca" lol Seems like only old people live there.

Edited By: clovus Jul 21st, 2010 at 06:56 AM"hey wassup. i used to play at miccosukee casino a good bit. i don't live in florida but wondered what you may have heard or seen as far as miccosukee is concerned. As far as i know, and its been over a year since i been there, its still only smoking poker room and its open 24/7. If you know, how big are the games getting there and are the tables running for days? thanks."
Reply to IM I got tonight from modelposter .
No updates at all on the Miccosukee Casino.
I used to hear a lot of negatives about the service at Miccosukee and all the tribal leaders are in trouble with the Feds over tax issues. Go at your own risk.
If you are a smoker the door is 15 feet away from the Corral at Palm Beach Kennel Club.
The Coconut Creek Seminole has an upstairs room where they smoke in the hallway so the second hand smoke is terrible.
The Hollywood Seminole Casino is the only room that advertises for smokers at the table. ( Next to the Hard Rock. The old bingo place)
The Hollywood Seminole is much bigger and where Mizrachi used to deal cards. The Creek has a lot of dead money I hear and mostly a very loose 2/5 game
ISLE AT POMPANO update July 20th 2010
Action still very good ISLE Poker room in Pompano in the 5/10 Most of the old shove with ATC players have all demoted them selves to the 2/5 game. I guess the 500 min buy in depletes their bankrolls too quickly.
The ISLE has taken the time rake off the 5/10 game and the action has been good but above average players. Some will still stack off with two pair on an uncoordinated board.
Also will shove top pair like AQ with a Qc 10c 8 board with two of a suit Straight flush draw showing.
KcJc Jc9c 7c9c etc So some big pots still brew quite often.
Example:
A very active raiser in middle position made it 30 to go tonight 3 other callers and I called with 5 5 in the small blind. Every one else had either called that initially limped for 10 each. 5 players to see the flop. The player before the active raiser was also very active <BUT flop pre betting over>when there were limpers. I had made him my target for a double up earlier because he was playing and raising so many hands.
Flop comes Kx 5d 6d.
I play extremely tight unless I have a big hand that I then play very fast and hard.
I flop the set and bet $220 into a 180 pot because of the flush draw. Next to act that was the original raiser gets up and yells "all in" ALL IN real loud and cant wait to get his chips in. 670 approximate stack. If he had anything real big preflop he would have reraised.
I reply " I must be beat but if you have AK or Flush draw Im ahead of you" i reshove to eliminate one early postion caller and he turns over K 6 offsuite so he did have outs.
No 6 and no K so GH me. Poor guy looked like a disinflated balloon.
I took down a big pot and called it a night. Bank roll has increased in 20 days of real NO LIMIT buy in poker in Florida.
Some deep pockets dropping big money at the Kennel Club. Takes a couple of hours too get on the table when the whales are there. -
My buddies are tying to get me to come down there for some of these and to grind a lttlel cash as well(1/3,2/5)..you FLA guys think its worth it? How will the fields be in these some of these tournies?

Edited By: clovus Jul 21st, 2010 at 09:05 PMThe Main Event at the ISLE will have 3 Day 1s so there will be a lot of good cash games Friday Saturday and Sunday that week too. The $550 event draws a large field as will the Monday Event.Originally Posted by PizzityPizzwnd

Good luck and yes it is worth it. Best area to stay in would be Deerfield Beach either on the Ocean front or if you want to avoid the beach area go off 10st and 95 area. Some nice mid range hotels in the area. You can also get weekly rents and monthly rents in Pompano Beach area north of Commercial.
The drive from the beach to 95 is around ten minutes.
Deerfield Beach would keep you close to all the poker rooms: Palm Beach Kennel Club ISLE Pompano Coconut Creek Seminole.
20 minute ride to the 4 rooms in Hollywood. The Hard Rock, Seminole Bingo, Mardis Gras and Gulfstream
7 places to play with a 30 minute drive in either direction. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=...8e3392fede5f55
The only hotel that is borderline shady area would be the La Quinta. Just dont walk at night. Only go west. Hilton Hotel is Isolated but a better area as there is only one way in and out. Next to an office park.
Howard Johnson on the Beach is the nicest location.
Lots of small mom and pop rentals in Pompano Beach, Lauderdale by the Sea and Deerfield Beach on the Ocean. Try Gustav Realty for weekly rentals of apartments and efficiencies.
