1. In a tournament at the local casino it gets down to 10 players (still 2 tables) and the top 9 pay. I end up losing a 3 way all in that sets me back to 100 in chips. The other player was eliminated so we go down to the final table. The blinds double every 15 minutes and are already at 2000-4000 with no antes. The chipleader at the final table only has about 7000-8000 so everybody is very shortstacked. Anyways, Im lucky enough to start with the button so I plan on folding until im in the BB as everybody else will be all in on their BBs before me. On the first hand dealt there are already 2 players all in as is the BB when it gets to me. I look down and have I AA. I decided that my best play is to fold since winning only gets me to 500 which is still far from meaningful. I figure that I will probably end up finishing in the same spot regardless of whether or not I win the hand so I thought it added an unnecessary risk to call there. I ended up finishing the tournament in 4th. What would you guys of done here? Fold the AA and try and make sure you move up in payouts or play to win the tournament?
2. I'm so thoroughly confused, but I woulda shoved my chips in pretty quick. You never said how the hand went down, I take it they would have won that hand huh....
3. BTW, youre saying you folded leaving yourself with 100 while the chip leader has 7k and you came in 4th...?
4. What the hell kind of tournament is this?? "chip leader with 7,000-8000" with 2,000-4,000 blinds. i think the better question to what should u do with AA in that spot is ask urself what the hell am I doing in this retarded tournament? ,,,,, but anyway yes i would fold cuz whats 500 chips with 4,000 blinds ur def movin up a few spots with the all ins in front of u
5. I think folding AA is justified in that spot.
6. That sounds like the worst structure known to man.
7. Tough place to be. 500 isn't going to stop the big stack from trying to bust you. Probably the best way to get into the money at this point. Seems that by finishing 4th you made the correct call this time. I don't think I would have folded, because I have come back from 250 to win a few times in the past....but those type of comebacks are far and few between.

And what these guys said....joke of a structure.
8. Yea, with the blinds that high that's a possibility. Nothing good can come from you calling with AA. Even if you win and triple up, it would only be to 300 assuming there were 2 other players all in. That 300 would do little with the blinds that high. You'd have to double or triple up about 6 time to even get back into it and with the button in front of you, you have no choice but to let the blinds ravage the table and then go all-in on your BB.

9. It was the 1st time Ive played a tourny at that casino and I wont play another 1 there. I even talked to the poker room manager about how poorly structured it was and he assured me this is how tournamnet poker is. BTW, with blinds doubling every 15 mins and and a multi-way all in every hand it took forever to get all the side pots straight so we only got about 3 or 4 hands per 15 mins. By the time they got to me I think they were at least 4k 8k......

10. Well thats how tournament poker is if you have an awful structure...
11. Dear Lord tell me what casino this was so I can remind myself never to step foot in that poker room. How many people were in this tournament anyway? I still dont see how it can be that HORRID of a structure where the final table is an all in fest with the chip leader only having enough basically mini raise the blinds.
12. This was a rebuy tournamnet at Cherokee Casino. I went crazy during the rebuy period trying to get chips since I knew it was a fast structure. Made me mad because I put a lot in and im not sure that getting a big stack early even matters because of how fast the structure is. I think the best way to beat that tourny is to invest as little as possible and just try to survive.

13. Yeah, if people are going to give that kind of action folding would be the best play. 1/8 of a big blind is not worth risking your tournament on. Congrats on the lucky seating.
14. REBUY and no chips at the final table, did they come along and start taking chips off the tables at some point?????? I don't understand where all the chips went
15. This is the way most tournaments held at dog tracks and jai alai places are run. 50$ buy in you start with 1500 in chips, blinds start at 50/100 and go up every 15 mins. Needless to say, if you dont double early you arent lasting very long.
16. If the money jumped a lot then maybe, otherwise how can you fold it?
17. Something smells here....

with the chipleader at 7000, say avg is 5000 for sake of agruement.....5000 times 9 = 45000 chips which woulbe be 30 players WITHOUT a rebuy which you said there was and you bought a bunch. So maybe 20 players and this thing pays out top 9????
18. When live play stages = online play stages, that is not right. I've played in something like that at a bar for 'fun'. The people running are so consumed with getting it over in a set amount of time that it's beyond a crapshoot. They shouldn't even deal the cards down in a game like that.
19. I think there were a little over 100 people playing. There was only 1 other person at my 1st table that rebought so I assume that most other players also didnt rebuy much at other tables. Your assumption is that we started with about 1000 chips.... I think the actual origianl amount was 300 in chips which you could double buy to get up to 600 then an add on at the end of the rebuy which would get you another 500. Its a very very poorly structured tournament...
