  1. would you do the same.

Was in Vegas this week, and pretty much got eaten alive (played 4 tournies, and never made it to the second break of any), and had a couple hours to kill before the flight. To pass the time, I decided to play 2/4 limit (yea, yea, I know) for shits and giggles.

Sat with a hundred, and ran that up to about 180 in about an hour and a half. Table was relatively passive, until this hand...

I'm UTG+2 of a 7 man table, and have AA. UTG raises to 4, I raise to 6, and BB calls as does initial raiser. Flop comes J 8 10, two hearts. UTG bets 2, I raise 4, and BB reraises to 6. UTG calls, and I decide to call just one more card too, and not reraise as the BB has shown he cannot fold. Turn is K of hearts. UTG instanly bets 4, so I thought for a while, and reluctantly folded. (The BB actually reraised, and same action on 5th street, so it was a pretty big pot)

Would you have folded too, pot odds be damed? After I told everybody I folded AA after the hand, they all gave me a hard time (especially the guy who won the hand with Qs)
  2. Its gonna take aot for me to fold AA esp at 2/4 live limit. the skill level at 2/4 imit ina casino is like ..25/.5 onlinr Unless the baord 4 flushes in a multiway pot and I dont have a flsuh Im holding on to those shits for sure.

    edit* I cant spell
  3. I understand why you might want to fold this hand, but I just don't think you can. I understand slowing down, but don't muck it. AA is a tough laydown in a limit game. Kudos for thinking about it and trying to make a big play, but I think you just out-thought yourself here.
  4. In retrospect, I agree. The fact that this hand got out of control very fast at a relatively passive table (the guy who made initial raise, it was the first time he raised since I sat) also factored into it. Unfortunately, the entire trip--getting knocked out of two tournies to a 3 and 2 outer, respectively to name the two most stinging beats--factored into it too.

I just looked at the board, and thought it was too "pretty" for my As to be the best hand. If it was two handed, I'm going with it all the way. But three handed, I just couldn't think it was good.

Oh well, live and learn (of course, next time, one of them will have it :-)

  5. I think that is a good fold actually considering the board. I would have called the turn if I had the A if I were you though. Tons and I mean tons of hands beat you that are easily played at 2/4 limit. Don't just worry about the results.
