  1. Myself and Thechemist83(Jeremy Gaubert) , are each half owners of mttbacking, where we back some poker players.

We have backed 60 or so people through mttbacking, and 90 or so through ptp, so it's not surprising that we have had a few people roll.

After some deliberation, we have decided to out those who have shown no effort to repay, to prevent them from stealing from others.

    Here they are:

    ------------------------------------------
#1 Ben Van Der Ham. Yayoshow on stars, tilt thisAA on tilt, JOEROGIN1991 on UB.

UPDATE 2-2-10 Ben has just paid us $4600. We have agreed to a payment plan with him for the remaining 5k. He has owned up to his mistake, and is making good on it.

    ---------------------------------------------

#2 Sooners aka Mclovinlovin(Russ Floyd) and ostatepoke45/okstate345(Greg Cox)

We were backing Ostate last year. He let sooners play cash games on his account(with our money). Sooners lost 13k. We took part of it out of Gregs Winnings that month.

Both told us that Sooners had played on the account without permission, but it came out later that Greg actually had given him permission.

Recently ,sooners won a substantial amount of money. He only sent 1500 of it to us, and 1500 to Greg.

Instead of forwarding the 1500 to us, Greg used the money to go play in a live tourney. We feel that money should have come directly to us.
EDIT: Greg claims that he used the 1500 for bills, not for live play. My information that he used it for a live tourney was 3rd hand, so I believe him. This doesn't really change the situation though.

currently, between the 2 of them, they still owe us $4500

    -------------------------------------------------

    #3 Grotan/Hulk25/Aiikon (Marius Grotan)

About a year ago, Grotan lost $1500 playing cash games with our money(our players are not allowed to play cash games at all).

He had maybe 1k or so additional money in his account, which he disappeared with.

So he owes us $2500 or so.

    --------------------------------------------------

    ---------------------------------------------------

#5 Matt Keener LexLuthor85 on stars, xTheory on tilt, Brett Hopper on ub.

He won a 12k wsop package for us. Then he apparently spent/lost the money before the main event.

He currently owes us about 7k.

    That's all...... for now

  2. you might want to do back ground checks online from now on..you can do this there are websites..
  3. Odds I can get a staking deal?

LOL just kidding, probably a good idea to post imo!

Hope you get your monies back but I think we all know you won't, sigh!

Oh and can you contact WillieDM on PTP for me?

  4. someone on this site made a list of scammers as a heads up for people. really stand up thing to do imo, just cant remember who it was.
  5. Ooo sweet!

I think HU threads like these are good, not just so other players/backers can beware, but also to make people think twice before doing somethin shady like this and risk being outted.

    Just to clarify?.....

and I hope everything works out
  8. I still wanna see the Sheets list
  9. Dont you guys have access to your players accounts? That way they can contact support and have their accounts excluded from cash games since you dont allow them to play? Sucks.. Man not Sooners I like Russ from talking to him here. No clue about his poker ability.. Im gonna get good and join your stable this year..
  10. Never trust anyone with Yayo in their name.

No, Sooners played on Ostate's full tilt account without our permission.

If we stake someone, they are not allowed to play cash games at all, and no one else is allowed to use their account at all.

  13. How do you justify backing someone? especially if you most likely never met them?

    My bad...misunderstood.
    GL with everything

P.s Isnt Sooners a high stakes reg? dont understand why they wouldnt pay back such small amounts. meh people suck I guess
  15. God some of these phucking replies are just ignorant and stupid. I really hope they weren't serious. IMO, I think backers should do more things like this, although I'm sure you guys/Sheets talk to each other about guys like this that have stolen money when they go looking to get backed by the other. Finally someone has outed scammers.
  16. I don't back anyone but thanks for the list. Wish all backers did this but I understand the reasons not too. Anything to help clean up the game is good in my book.

    like what?

    enlighten me
  18. The return of Sleezy T....

I think if you get fired from being backed you should take it like a man, steal the change that you need to send back to your former backers and grind .02/.04 limit until you eventually build and become a millionaire.

Then when you are famous send the .23 cents or so that you kept, and send an e-mail that says, "Keep the change you filthy animal..."

  19. I guess I don't really understand backing online players since you aren't standing there to get paid when they take the lentor backed BR/buy-in and turn a profit. If you post a guy's buy-in at the WSOP and he cashes, you can be there and look him in the eye, much more likely to get paid back and your share, too, than if you depend on them to pay you when they get around to it from an online account. I mean, by definition, they are playing above their own BRs at the time they get you to pony up the dough.

I am sure many, if not most, that you back will pay you as they should. But some will have expenses or flit it away before they pay you if there's some time in between. They don't mean to do it in those circumstances, but they rationalize it and delay or never pay you.

  21. okay yes i did let sooners play n my account. i just watched him win 300k in may and thought it was no big deal if he lost i had no idea that he was broke at the time, this does not dimiss the fact that i let him play on my account and for that i have refusely apologized i dont kow what i was thinking at the time but im human i make mistakes it will NEVER happen again and the 1500 sent to me by sooners was for bills not for a live tournament so just get that straight. i am not a scam artist i made a mistake and i hate the situation i cannot change the situation but i can learn from it i am not a cheater and the only thing i want to do is play poker an live life and not deal with this bullshit but that is life and things happen okay im done

  22. Say hi to chemist from me... haven't talked with him in a while. Hope his health problems are getting better.

Pretty sure he is backed by someone, thought I read an OT sweat thread at the time saying he needed 2nd to get out of makeup which was in the neighborhood of 90 (and coincidentally he chopped for around 90k or w/e)

Not trying to make allegations, but I'm fairly certain I read something like this you can probably search for it.

ah makes more sense I guess

  26. Mahowny777 stole $300-400 from me as well.

Came back months later on AIM, telling me he was sorry, he was gonna pay me back, etc...then has the nerve to ask me to trade $ on various sites with him...obv turned him down.
  27. I bet Shax and Beets have a super long list like this..

I have played for Todd and Jeremy since the middle of August of 09. I can say with 100% confidence that nothing the least bit shady goes on with the way they run their business. I have never met either of them in person and actually never even spoken to them on the phone. But it isn't as if they just back anyone who asks. I don't know their exact process but I can say this isn't some fly-by-night operation and they do their homework. They check references and do just about everything you can when considering hiring someone they haven't met. Just the nature of the business dealing with online poker. What are they supposed to do? Fly me in for an interview?

Obv hiring people sight unseen isn't gonna have a 100% success rate, but no other method does either. People seek backing for many different reasons. My reason was because my wife asked me to look for a backer for the most part, she just feels more comfortable that way. But it also allows me to play higher and much more comfortably then I could otherwise. Unfortunately, I would think that most seek backing because they are broke, or close to it. So, very often you are gonna be dealing with a player who is in financial hardship.

They obv back players because they believe they will make $ long-term by making good decisions when hiring players. Lowlife pieces of shit like the ones mentioned in the OP obv significantly cut into their profit margin. It takes a tremendous leap of faith to send someone you've never met a significant amount of $. I'm certain that they take every precaution they can, but some people are just scum.

The rules are pretty fucking simple. You can't play cash games. I keep my own $ on UB for when I feel like playing cash and play tournies with theirs on AP. And there are other sites out there if you wanna play cash, so the no cash game rule should never be an issue. There are a few other rules, but the biggest one is to not be a scumbag and steal their fucking money! Also, to answer a question from earlier ITT, I have never been asked for my account passwords. Nobody knows my passwords except me.

People really amaze me with how low they will sink sometimes. These guys started this company from nothing with their own $, then they hire you and give you an awesome opportunity to play a fucking game from your home with basically unlimited earning potential at no financial risk to you at all. (They also give their players a better deal than most of the other backing outfits from what I hear.) And you screw them over for an amount of $ that you could make in a few hours? Fucking pathetic. Thieves like these guys give the backing industry and the poker community as a whole a bad reputation.

Also, I don't know any of the people on that list personally, but the name at #1 doesn't surprise me at all. Usually seemed like a no-good Dbag the few times I've played with him. My favorite part is where he says in the email that his friends are telling him to take the money and run and he was gonna do that. But then changed his mind and is gonna pay it back. Wow, what a kind gesture. You are the company you keep obv. Scum attracts scum.

Not to make light of any of this, but MTT's batting avg. on not hiring thieving dirtballs is probably better than most backers out there imo. This is a good thing for Todd and Jeremy but a pretty sad thing for the game. Not trying to come off all holier-than-thou here but these people just really piss me off. Can't imagtine how mad I'd be if it was my $. Hopefully you'll never have to make another list like this one Todd. As far as why other backers don't put this info out there, I have no idea. Done ranting, sorry so long.

Why not say yeah sure we can swap money on sites, have him send first and don't send...Bam you got some money back. There are ways to beat scum.

As far as OP...the situation sucks, but hey you backers back some of the dirtiest players on earth. Theft will never end in the backing world. Thanks for the list tho.
