  1. Great article Fox. I wish more people had the same atitude as you towards bad players: Why on earth do people complain about them and proceed to 'teach' them how to play better??? I know it sux when the fish hits his two outer on the river, but in the long run it pays off for you. If everyone just said "nh" instead of berating the person and telling them how to play better there would be a lot less arguing at tables and a lot more fish out there for all of us.

  2. I think it all comes down to the "short-term" mindset vs. the "long-term" mindset. For people who think of poker as something they can and will win at in the long run, they are happy when they see a bad call made against them, regardless of the result, but for those who are mainly thinking about wanting to win right now, a bad call is only good if the opponent does not draw out. Regardless of what we all know about this, I think most of us have been guilty at times (some more than others) of getting upset at an opponent for some ridiculous suckout, but the truth is the opponent can't control the suckout, they can only control the bad call, which you want them to make. It's something I've worked hard on and continue to work on and struggle with, and I think it's worthwhile for all poker players to try to come to grips with these facts and play through the things that don't work out the way we want them to. It's the plays you make that are important in the long run--the results will iron themselves out.

  3. I think Fox is absolutely right and we should not "tap the glass" when we get beat by that two-outer on the river...but it is frustrating and 90-95% of the time I resist the urge to comment...I am working on making that 100% because I know that in the long run, I want those calls against me, even if I suffer some bad beats along the way.
