  1. just wanted to say this is excellent info and look forward to the rest of the series.
  2. Excellent Fox!!! What you are doing here is probably the most valuable info ever presented on this forum. I think this kind of direction you are providing is exactly what may serious P5ers are looking for and it is also what make this community so awesome.

My chicken coop will be open to you anytime Fox.
  3. Yes Fox, thank you. I have no plans to ever be a fulltime player like yourself, but this info is very interesting and cool to look inside the lifestyle you lead. I have recently jumped back into the limit ring games after reading a previous post by Fox that those are his mainstays. I have strictly stayed at low limit shorthanded games (ones that are waiting to get filled to 10plyrs btw)and it has been very profitable as the people are only looking to play the book recommended starting cards. When I moved over to tourneys and found p5, all I focused on was winning a big tourney. To see how you make a living at limit inspired me to go back. I used to play full rings and did fine at them, but now with my NL experience I really can exploit the math folks at the short games, since I am more adept at reading their hands as opposed to just playing my pot odds. Thanks Fox.
  4. Great stuff! Can't wait for the NL, SNG, and MTT articles.
  5. Thanks guys! My partner is used to getting accolades for his writing, but it's still pretty new to me so it's really nice to hear.

If anyone wants to contribute to a particular Pathways article let me know, I can use all the info I can get, and I'll definitely throw you some special thanks at the end. I'm going to contact NSXT2 this week and see if he'll give me some info for (maybe even co-write) the tournament article. I'm sure Beanie will help too, and I'm hoping a few of the other tournament pro's will be interested.
  6. Nice article! Great info and easy to read. I am also looking forward to reading more of your articles.
  7. yes yes yes. this is the one i was waiting for. keep up the good work Fox. much appreciated.
  8. Fox,

First let me say great article. However, asking NSXT2 to write a tournament article for you seems like a conflict of interest. Obviously one of the motivations behind writing this series is to point people to your business venture. Nothing wrong with that, seems like fair compensation for your time spent. But that venture you are plugging seems to compete directly with RPT.

  9. godseyt...are you Fox's mother? He's trying to share his love of the game w/us.

    ***Not looking for a fight***
  10. I'm not looking for a fight either. Nor was I trying to discourage Fox from continuing the series. I was merely pointing out the potential for conflict of interest. Who knows, maybe Todd would be up for the project. I'm not Todd, so I really can't say.

That being said, it just seems like this forum is destined for issues like this. Think about it. A good number of the pros/regulars on this site have now ventured into this business. Fox, Jsup, Green Plastic, NSXT2, GotSkillz, and now Gank all now providing their own tutorial services.

  11. Glad to hear people are excited about these articles. Fox and I are having a great time working on them. ---hatfield
  12. I'm not going to worry about a conflict of interest with anyone, and I have no desire to get into that kind of arguement, so I don't think it will be a problem. Todd and I have always had a friendly relationship, and our sites provide very different things for a very different pay scale.

Some of my members might not be able to afford Todd's site, but I often recommend it to my members and students who want to learn about advanced tournament play. I also think anyone who is a member of Todd's site is not going to leave when they join mine because we provide very different things, and being a member of both sites would only help someone improve faster.

I thought of asking Todd to provide some input on the tournaments article because whether he helps or not we will be listing RPT as an excellent resource for tournament players. Our goal at our site is to make our players better, that's what they pay us for. If Todd's site will help them then we have no problem recommending it. There is more than enough business to go around and neither one of us rely on our sites for a significant portion of our income, so I'm guessing it will not be a problem.

Anyway I'll email him in the next day or two and see if he's interested.

In essence we aren't really going to hurt each other competitively, we get along well, and there is more than enough mutual respect between us to work together. I also know JSBYUN fairly well, maybe I can get them both to contribute hehe.
  13. Well said Fox.
  14. Thanks Ryan. I just sent an email to RPT addressed to Todd, but consider yourself included in that invite as well. Todd's face is everywhere on the site and I sort of forgot about ya.
