  1. Going to casino this week but have never played no limit holdem b4. Want to play 1-2 no limit. Would you guys suggest foxwoods or showboat? I heard there are a lot of terrible players at showboat. Any other suggestions woudl be great. I would prefer AC or Connectiucut b/c i live on the East Coast. Thanks.
  2. bump. Also, i plan to stay there fpr only 6 hours though. I woulndt want a wait list thats 3hrs.

  3. I am by no means an expert on this I've played both and I slightly prefer Showboat, although Ive only played tournaments there. A lot of LAG type players, Showboat is a smaller poker room and located kinda away from the main floor, but pretty decent IMO. Personally while Foxwoods poker room is bigger Idk, something was off for me. Probably because I didnt have any success there. But also, a lot of sunlight is in the room, so at some tables you really do need sunglasses for more than table image. I guess that was slightly annoying at times. I really love the Borgata room in AC, I think their big tournament is going on but its a really nice room and the lover level cash games are just fine. I also was there during weekdays, so I don't know too much bout wait lists. Hope this helps a little
  4. Hmm thanks a lot. I hear so much about the Taj, Trop and i am pretty clueless at which one is the best for me. I dont want to play tournaments because i wont be there for more than 6-7 hours maybe and will not get a room. I just want to play some 1-2 no limit. So how you rate the rooms if you want to just play 1-2 no limit and not any tournaments?

Thank you very much for helping.

  5. I can't speak for any of the AC cards rooms, but I've played the 1/2 NL games at Foxwoods a few times when I lived up there. I think like any card room you're going to find a different group of players at each table. I will say that one thing I noticed, and I'm sure it's the same at most places, is that a lot of the players at Foxwoods are serious regulars, even at the 1/2 games. If you're only going to be there for 6 hours or so then Foxwoods might be a good bet because their poker room is enormous and they have a ton of cash games going at all times. That being said, you will wait forever for your free drinks and it is loud as hell sometimes in there too.
  6. most times there is still a waitlist at FOXWOODS...IM sure easy comp at showboat..

HEAD OVER TO TE BORGATA AND CHECK OUT THE WPT.
  7. Do yourself a favor and go to Borgata. Not only is it large and comfortable, but if your plan is to play $1/2 NL, there is really no other choice. All you gotta do is buy-in for $300 (get it at the cashier before you get a table), and be a rock. Shouldn't have a problem netting a grand in 5-6 hours. Oh, it goes by quick, you might wanna stay longer.
  8. I'm at foxwood pretty much every weekend, though mainly play 2-5 (yes yes yes degenerate poker player)

Foxwoods action is a little nuts at the 1-2 tables. I would say that if you could compare it, it would be like the .5 .10 cent on bodog. Absolutley crazy action.
On average at a 10 handed table there you will have 2 drunkies playing every pot, 2 old bitter rocks that only play high pairs big aces, 3-4 intermediate players, but will call every street, with any draw, and 1-2 players whom are there regularly and are either TAG or playing LAG but with good laydowns. Pre flop action is nothing like online, there is no use raising 3x big blind in this game because 6 $ will bring in 6 people, even a 12-15 dollar preflop raise will still bring in 3 people.
A lot of level one poker going on of people only evaluating their play based on their cards, will not put you on any specific hands. And most of the time an over pair WILL NOT let go of their hand, no matter how dangerous the board is.
All I can say is if you have not played no limit... maybe try it online first? I think that losing a couple buy ins online is a lot easier on the bank roll than 60-300 dollar buy ins at Foxwoods.
Good luck, pm me if you have any other questions.
  9. hey shaq if you play 2-5 no limit at foxwoods, what limit do you play online if you do? I am assuming u dont play 2-4 no limit online right since live games are much easier?

  10. hey guys. I see the Taj, Borgata, Foxwoods, Tropicana and Ballys. Can anyone tell me which casinos charge a per hour session as oppose to just rake? I heard foxwoods and taj was per hour.

    thanks.

  11. Foxwoods is a charge per hour. I know the 1/2 NL is $5 an hour. At least it was the last time I played there. I will say that if you want a crazy soft game you can go play 4/8 and 5/10 limit at foxwoods. I played the 4/8 limit a few times and I can't tell you how frequently I was called down by bottom pair. Of course you need to handle tilt well because quite frequently those stupid old bastards pair their kicker and suck out a big pot.
  12. well i dont play limit poker much but i do understand the ABC's of it. I prefer to play no limit. Would you suggest 1/2 no limit at Tropicana over foxwoods and Taj? Someone said foxwood was 5 dollars per half hour. Not sure if i read it wrong.

  13. Does anyone know if the Taj charges you per hour to play poker or is it just rake liek the Borgota? I am just considering the Taj and Tropicana now. I dont want to play at foxwoods since i dont want to pay a per hour charge.

  14. 5$ per half hour for rake at foxwoods, that blows if your having a bad night...
  15. No, the Taj does not charge I rake. I play at the Trop fairly often and it is fun room. A lot of fish looking to throw their money away.
  16. ok thanks. So do you other guys feel the Tropicana is better than the Taj? These are my only 2 choices i am thinking of rght now.
