Hi guys. I wanted to try something new, and if it catches on or you guys really like it we can perhaps turn it into a more regular occurrence.
Edited By: Gags30 Aug 25th, 2011 at 09:56 PM
Anyway. I want to run a hand history review session/training session...It will be free to attend, and anyone that wants to attend can do so. It will be held online (obviously) and I will be using a screen sharing program to show the hand history to everyone, and you will also be able to talk through this program.
This will take place on Tues. Sept 6th at 3:00pm EST, a few weeks from now, this will give time for the word to spread and people to give some ideas on what they'd like to see. I'm open to suggestions about changing the date/time to accommodate all people. (Please remember, there are people from all over the world that may want to attend this, so just because you are on the west coast and have to work doens't mean that I will push it back 8 hours) I figured this was a nice middle of the road time that would be best for all.
I expect this review to last a couple of hours. I'm aiming for 2 hours just so it doesn't get too long/boring, but I could see it running a little longer than that if there's a lot of questions/discussions (and we all know how much i love to talk).
Also, let me know what you would like to talk about. I plan on showing a hand history from a tourney that I have played, and talk about interesting spots as they come up, as well as field any questions that anyone may have. However, if there is a major topic you would like me to touch on (such as 3betting light, opening light, defending from the blinds, etc.) let me know in advance and I will do my best to incorporate it into the discussion.
If you would like to be part of this review session, please PM me with your email address as soon as possible. I will be sending out an email before the session with access to my screen so everyone can see the hh. I would like to try to get a rough count of who will be attending and don't really want to put a cap on the number of people, but if there is a very high number of people there may be some lag problems with the screen sharing program. I have a program in mind i'm going to use, but am going to be doing some testing of different programs to see if anything will work better.
Please note: if you have ideas/suggestions for topics or anything else...please post them in the thread and not in the PM that you send to me. I want everyone to be able to see the whole discussion and bounce ideas off one another
That's pretty much it. I'm open to any and all suggestions on topics to talk about, ideas to make this better, or ideas to make this run as smooth as possible. Looking forward to a good session and discussion!
p.s. if anyone knows of a program such as gatherplace.com or something else similar to that that you do not have to pay for where I can share both my screen and my audio through the same program, that would be great. we don't have to hear everyon'e audio, just mine...but i def want the ability for everyone to be able to type into a chat of some sort (most programs have a chat, but just saying)
*disclaimer* This is meant to be an educational and rewarding experience for anyone who wants to attend. I don't expect it to be a problem, and hope that it doesn't come to this, however, I reserve the right to kick anyone out of the training session if they are causing a disturbance or being hateful, or for any other reason that may impede the learning experience of others.

getting a bunch of pm's already and that's great!
as a reminder, please write your ideas for topics or anything you would like me to talk about in this thread! i want everyone to be able to see things, also, want to keep all the ideas in one place instead of having to dig through my pms when the time comes
lastly...several people mentioned using skype share screen, and skype share screen does not work in a multi-way call -
nice 1 gags
inski -
Count me in please! I'm looking forward to the hand review. Should be a lot of fun seeing so many interesting spots over the course of a tourney and see what dynamics develop and how to exploit them.. I can't wait.

just to name a few of the million things i'd like to hear your thoughts about mtt's on:
Edited By: get-raised21 Aug 19th, 2011 at 06:51 PM
28ish-45ish bb stack play,
playing any decent flopped draws in pos and oop with that stack size
light 3 betting from the blinds, the sizing of those 3b's, and post flop lines you take in these hands,
multi way setmining when in and oop and not getting standard implied odds for HU set mining
open shoving ranges from early and middle position with 14-20ish bb
and any and all things involving lategame, more so the final 2 and 3 tables than the FT
ok i'll stop there -
Lookin forward 2 it. I just love your vids!
Defending from the blinds would be a nice subject to incorporate imo. -
Count me in, PMing you my skype and email. Thanks for making this friendly to people living across the Atlantic.

-Discussions on what boards and situations to double barrel / continue on the turn after cbetting.

would you by any chance be able to video the whole thing, then post the video for some of us where that time frame is inconvenient?

for the time being, i'm going to say that this is going to be impossible to do. for starters, everyone involved in this training session will be able to ask questions, and could potentially be featured in the video, so i woudln't want to do something like that without getting everyon'es approval first (which will obv be a daunting or perhaps even impossible task). secondly, this is the first time i'm running something like this, and, while i anticipate it to run very smoothly, you can never be sure what problems could arise until you actually do it. these are the first 2 things that jump out to me...there are other reasons though.
so perhaps down the road this is something that could happen, but for now, i'm gonna have to say no
PM me your email and skype and you're on the list! (if you already PM'd me, great, see you there!)
all the ideas sound great so far guys, keep em coming...def gonna try to incorporate them all in one way or another -
Immense idea. I was going to join this forum ages ago, but this gave me the kick up the arse i needed!
Count me in. -
sounds good how do i get involved, should i pm u my skype and email

Maybe touch on your creative, newer, non-standard lines that you're experimenting with in different situations {i.e when you hit the flop hard (set on dry board, flopped flush), flopped draw, whiffed dry flop as pre raiser in pos, etc} that confuse your opponents and cause them to make mistakes as a result. I know this is really vague but i feel like forging innovative lines is an interesting exercise to help stay ahead of the curve

I would love to attend, but you could you do a later session for us peoples who have to work, say like 6 or 7 pm? What do you say GAGS?
-
Would love some meta-game stuff. "He views my range as this now, so I'm going to start flatting with xx and raising with yy now."

Would also love post flop play with deep stacks, just pushing people off hands by taking very strong lines. Obv you will hit their top of their range sometimes, but love to see something like that.
In the same sense taking weak/awkward lines and inducing hero calls/bluffs. -
PM sent - looking forward to this - just love to hear some insight from you!
Cheers -
Microsoft Lync lets you access documents and screen share in a multiway call where everyone can talk.

I've been hoping for something like this for a while, please sign my up!

I would like to take advantage of your offer as well, I will send a PM with the requested information and thanks!

it was really tough for me to come up with a time for this, because i knew making it at 3pm EST would prevent americans that work from attending...but a large portion of players on this site are european now (since black friday), and there doesn't seem to be many other complaints about the day/time, so unfortunately it looks like the time is going to stay where it is for now...in the future if i do something like this again i may try a different time

Congrats on post #6000!
