So i was part of the "check bouncing" as full tilt changed processors last month.
I got my new check last week and my bank has always been very good about things.
Due to the "origin of the check" my bank will honor it but it will need to
collect on it. So there is up to a three week "collection period".
Is anybody familiar with the collection process banks are required to do on certain types of checks? Any info is appreciated. -
I have had this happen in the past on foreign checks. They need make sure the check is good.

hey kodiak, stay positive with FTP and the withdrawal process. I replied to another post with a similar topic. My first check of february was bounced, but i got an email from ftp stating that it wouldn't be accepted by my bank before it did bounce. ftp then refunded me the amount with an extra 25 bucks to cover the fees. the fees were less then the 25 bucks so i got a little bit extra (pretty sweet imo). i requested more checks after the whole february fiasco, got them all at the same time over the weekend. Also, i tried the bankwire method on friday. Got it posted and available today.

Be calm man, there are so many internet scams out there that banks just want to be sure. Tons of old folks get sent big big checks that they cash, spend the money, then get all that $ taken from their account weeks later when it turns up as bouncing. Better safe than sorry in their books, plus most of the checks are from Canadian banks lately which take longer to process from the US>

Had the same thing happen to me. They told me it was going to take 3 weeks at the actual bank branch. I went home later that day and called their customer service on the phone. I gave them hell and told them the check was from day trading stocks. The amount was immediately credited to my account. They might help you.. they might not. I guess it depends on which idiot you are dealing with on the phone.

I believe a lot depends on your current bank balances as well. If you have a decent amount of $ with the bank already they will clear it faster than if your accounts are constantly in danger of being at 0.

Well my balances are fine but i do understand you point.
Example: stars check ilast week immediately posts.....the check values are similiar.
My Bank is normally really good about it. I believe the origin of the check is the reason ......i wish they had the other processors is all.
Its not called a hold btw they refer to it as a "collection". I've been handed a reciept for the sum. This is the first time i've had that happen. I've had a check held before but not given a reciept for "collection"
