1. i saw a post today about a winner's choice package freeroll for full tilts TLB leaders so i went to the website and found the list for last month. i didn't recognize a lot of names so i opened up the pokerdb and started to check it out.

suprisingly, all the people at the top of the list appear to suck.

http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/leaderb...d&encbegin=

the guy who won played 6 tourneys all month and cashed in 1 of them , he did not final table. (????)

the guy who took 3rd played 47 tourneys on the month and cashed in only 1.

meanwhile, people like pearljammed and blackmetalhead who crush the site on a day to day basis were nowhere near these guys.

what gives?
2. fulltilt has funny math when it comes to contests. ask TheMasterJ33, he dominated the last FTOPS with 2 final tables, and a 15th place finish, but the person who wins the main event is the winner of the promotion, because he had the biggest $ score.

3. That is peculiar, what are these rankings based on again? Maybe they had qualifier tourneys or something that aren't tracked by the DB.
4. gboro,

i noticed that too, and in my sheer boredom did some investigating. The top of the TLB is being slaughtered by 2 people who you say do not have any FTs (or may 1), no wins or anything. Here's the catch. Notice MTTs say ANY MTTs/SNGs OF >31 PEOPLE! I looked at the sharkscopes of those top people, and they constantly play those 1.25 45 man SNGs. I searched them a few times, and they sit and just 8 table those damn things for hours. When you look at it, you pretty close to the same # of points in those as in even the 24+2's. So there u have it, you're answer!
5. So I just checked, and I am on this #54 i think... I dont know how, but, my question is when is this freeroll going to happen, this is the first ive even thought about leaderboard type of stuff....

Also does anyone know exactly how the points are calulated??
6. there's a link on the TLB main page to the calculator, and the formulas are right there below it.
7. November 5th at 16:30 EST, It says it is a DS.

8. those guys playn the 1.25x45's are getting raped by the rake, lol.. but more power to them.
9. the rake is terrible... after reading fox's br management i decided to take $4 and try to work it up... so i was playing a ton of the $1 45 person tourneys, i kept thinkin i cant wait to get to the $5 so I dont gotta pay 25% a game... Im at about $400 so I am playing the $5 games now thankfully :)
10. Our original problem was that we didn't want any one tournament to count for too much. In my opinion, someone who wins our big Sunday tournament ($200 buy-in, 1500-1800 players) should barely crack the top 100 of the TLB on that result alone. So in our formula, we dampened the buy-in and the number of players in the field. We didn't want any one tournament to count for too much.

This worked well the first month. We looked up the winners, and saw that they were all legit MTT players, with several good finishes in reasonable tournaments.

With the rapid growth of the site over the past few months, our 45 player (and now 90 player) Sit & Go's have gone off regularly. A few players found that they could play these repeatedly and rack up a lot of TLB points because of how much we dampeded the field size and buy-in.

We have tweaked the formula for November, so you should see more players you would expect at the top this month, instead of players who are able to play a high volume of Multi-table Sit & Go's.

Mindtrip, the freeroll for the top 200 players is on Sunday at 4:30pm. You should receive a reminder e-mail shortly.

Best of luck,

Doug
11. thanks for clearing that up doug.

p.s. i agree with your original idea. i know stars weekly tlb is definitely skewed heavily towards the winners in their big sunday tourney and it seems like doing away with that would give a better idea of who is really dominating that week.
