Fulltilt just voided a scheduled FTOPS 300+22 event satellite that guaranteed one seat because only five people registered at 24+2. How is this one seat guaranteed???
Meanwhile stars is giving away hundreds of seats to WCOOP. -
This is so ethically wrong that I decided to email FullTilt:
I was just registered for a satellite that guaranteed one seat to an FTOPS event with 300+22 buy in. The tournament was voided after only five people registered. How do you void a tournament that has a guarantee of one seat? This would be similiar to voiding a regular scheduled tournament with a guarantee because not enough players register to reach the guarantee. I'm assuming this was simply a software issue. I would like to be compensated for the tournament not running. Five people registered, one seat was guaranteed so $322/5 is 64 dollars minus the 24 buy in so 40 dollars. I don't see any reason this shouldn't be awarded to me. However, if you believe it is ethical to advertise a guarantee and then not honor the guarantee, then don't send me the compensation. My guess is that this was a glitch in the software because I can't imagine you would knowingly cancel a tournament with a guarantee simply because the guarantee is not reached.
Thanks for your time. Hopefully you can fix this glitch and compensate me accordingly. -
Sorry for the confusion. The reason that particular satellite gets voided is that it's a shootout, and at least two tables worth of players are required for a shootout. In this case there's a minimum of 12 players, which is displayed in the top section of the tournament lobby (next to Max).
I've changed the comment so it no longer says "one seat is guaranteed" to avoid this confusion, although if it does get 12 players, the seat is guaranteed even if it doesn't get enough in the prize pool for a full seat.
All other types of tournaments that say "one seat is guaranteed" should go off with as few as two players without a problem, it's just a technical limitation of shootouts that requires the full two tables worth of players. -
LOL. When all else fails, read the instructions is what Doug is saying.
-
I can read instructions. In fact, if you look at the tournament information on the widget it says nothing about a minimum number of players, still doesn't. It only states one seat guaranteed and the maximum number of players allowed. I think any normal person reading the widget and only seeing a maximum number of players allowed would assume there is no minimum and would have no reason to look for such a number. For this very reason, FTPDoug made the adjustments and removed the phrase "one seat guaranteed."

Looks something like this.
Max: 600 (min 12)
I'm pretty sure every tournament on FTP has that, or it will say (no min). -
I have been playing plenty of FTOPS satellites with overlays they are not canceling them. Doug explained to you what happened. No....No wait actually I think FTP is personally trying to screw you. Good Post OP.
