Assuming bankroll is not a factor, is there a general guideline to go by to decide as to whether or not you should opt to take an Add-on? The general rule I've used is that if the add-on contributes 20% or more to your overall stack, then it should be done.
Anyone? -
Add-on no matter what if money isnt an issue. You have the option to get more chips without winning a hand, why not do it

Well yea, if you are a massive CL and the amount is above 10-20 dollars, then theres no need
But on stars, I dont see why you wouldnt addon 2k with a stack anything less than 25-30k
I just want more chippies -
In the $3 rebuy I always addon, no matter what. I look at it this way: Usually the second hour is incredibly boring because the stack sizes are so huge compared to the blinds. That $3 means I can pretty much play the 2nd hour folding every hand waiting for good cards in good position and keep my current stack size.
Of course $3 means almost nothing to me, if I was playing the $11r or $30r with my bankroll it would be a harder decision. But then, I don't play rebuys unless i'm willing to rebuy 3-4 times and addon at the end. -
on the 5.5R on stars I've added on the two times i had 50K plus after the break. I just feel that it's worth it, that 2K can be the steal that went bad or something like that. I always add on in the low buy ins regardless of stack size.
Ironicall, the only time I didn't add on was in the 109R on stars. I couldn't afford it that day because I already spent $400 on the tourney and I didn't want to buy more chips (spent too much that week). I had 2.6K going into the break and it was the only time I made the FT in that tourney.. lol. cashed for 2.3K. -
The only time I wouldn't add-on is if at the end of the rebuy period I have a Money Stack. Meaning I had a stack that by the time you get into the money it would be considered an average stack. Even then I might be tempted just to add-on.

Here are my thoughts on add ons .
a) You need to have a nice discount on your add ons
b) If you have an above average stack then at some point , your add ons become counter productive and are not worthwhile from a ROI standpoint . (This can be shown using wotmogs theory )
