This seems to be a problem of mine, I always bust 9/10/11th. I'll get to the final table and bust out first or have trouble once it gets to 10-12 guys left... any advice to get over this problem?

Depends on what you are doing. If you are being aggressive on the FT bubble and you just happen to bust in 9th/10th etc., then that's ok, because that happens. If you find youself so short on chips that you are praying to make the FT and/or having to make a stand with some trash like A9o, then you need to be more aggressive.
The most important piece of information I was ever taught in regards to tournaments: Bad/decent players are just trying to make the money (or FT). Good and great players are playing for 1st.
You need to figure out who's trying to fold to cash/FT, and abuse the hell out of them. Unless you've got a super vulnerable stack with an aggressive CL to your left, you should never arrive at the FT as the short stack.
