thats good he got caught if hes the killer or whatever but...
why would they hold his prize money for the tournament? that money has nothing to do with it and was made legally... i don't see how they can legally hold that money and not pay him out... there is no reason why if you are charged with a crime ( no matter how serious) that you should not be paid out a poker prize. Especially considering nobody has been convicted but that shouldn't even matter. Murderers can win poker tournaments too lol.
What the RCMP is doing there is borderline infringing on his rights to a legal defense, because that money he made legitimately can be used for his legal defense and they are blocking him from getting paid out. Slippery slope imo -
meh if he's going to jail he's personally never going to see that money again. They should give it too his family or whatever but he murdered ppl so don't really care to see this happen to him at all.

Assuming he is guilty, they might holding it in case there is a civil lawsuit against this alleged thug. I am not sure if the court system in Canada is the same as the US, so this point may be invalid.

He is in custody awaiting trial so this is not an issue.

Actually, max sentence in Canada even for murder is 20 years. And even if you killed several people they dont add it all up, there is no 357 year sentences here. Likely he will be out in 20 but kept on parole. Our justice system is major pussy compared to yours.

So he would likely see the money again.
And at this point he only "allegedly" murdered people so blocking his access to legally made funds is hindering his ability to defend himself in court. -
This reply makes the most sense, but still holding money for a hypothetical potential lawsuit that may or may not happen should still be against his rights when he could use those funds for his legal defense.

This happend in 2007 what is he doing out or am i reading it wrong?
-
Thats how long they took to charge him. Maybe they just got enough evidence or something.
-
It took this long because cops had no evidence....Dennis K got charged and ratted and I'm assuming one of Jamie Bacons puppets snitched on this dude.
Vancouver is nuts.
