    i hate my girlfriend i just recently ended it with her and my poker game has gotten much much better its insane how my game has changed i can fuckin finally concentrate now.....i hate that bitch even more now that i realized she was holding back my game....just venting cause she actually just broke up with me 5 days ago

    Holy shit after I just recently broke up with my girlfriend, I got 2nd in a 100k guarantee on Platinum Poker for 17k! Also won my first UB tournament the $30+$3 $9500 guaranteed. Isn't it odd how much better you do without a girl on your mind.

    Honestly , its been one long - depressing period of time for me with no one in my life . And i feel the opposite of how u guys feel . I wish there was more to my life right now than poker . I've always felt that i would be that much better a player if there was someone in my life . ( and i already am happy with where my game is at - although there's always room for improvement ) My point is that when i have a bad night , filled with lovely river beats ,etc. - i go home to nothing , left to think about if i could of played hands differently , etc ( which is healthy and all )
    I look forward to the next game instead of looking forward to seeing someone i care about and share my life with . Its very empty to say the least .

    I hear ya, CFH101. I'm just the opposite of these guys. I started winning regularly when my fiancee moved down from New York and I had something other than just my day job and poker.

    However, my biggest wins have come when she is out of town, if that makes any sense. The first time I won the Paradise 50K (35K at the time) was the day after she had left to visit her family at Xmas time. The next huge win I had was again while she was gone. I like having a few days to myself, as it helps me relax and concentrate, and I generally rack up some nice profit. But, I don't think I'd have those great showings if she weren't here in the first place.

    In my opinion, it takes balance to be at your best: Physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Having a significant other fills those voids. So does working out. So does reading. Anything to break the monotony.

    I recommend setting aside time to hit the social scene and see if someone comes into your life. After all, the computer screen will be there when you get back.

    Don't mean to sound preachy, but I hope that helps.

    By the way, Topaz, hilarious post. Maybe I have a sick sense of humor, but I don't see why everyone gets their panties in a bunch over what you say.

    Nah , actually it doesnt help , but thx for trying . ( dont want to sound like a dickhead- just being truthful ) I've got to get a lot of things straightened out b4 i hit the "social scene " as i've let myself run down to shit . If someone came into my life right now they wouldnt stay for too long so i cant really bother myself with finding someone . I've got to start betterin' myself . ( hard to explain , but if anyone has gone thru some hardcore f'n depression - u know what i mean . ) Not easy to take care of yourself when u could give two shits about yourself .
    ( things will turn around - but for now its my friends and family , and poker that keep me going so as long as its something keepin me going - )
    anyways , thx for the post - i normally dont even get into my personal shit on forums but this thread topic just seemed like a good place( to waste 15min of my work day ....lol)

    lol....... then i would really kill myself !!!!!! Seriuosly , metal and music in general has been one of the few reasons i havent put a hole in my head . Metal helps me cope with everything , as i can relate to how so many others are feeling .

    ive had my best success when single and not having to worry about anything but work and poker..but moslty poker. It is nice tho to have someone in your life that you care about and what not. I agree with a previous poster who said you have to have a good balance so you dont ignore your girlfriend and dont get rusty on your poker. I think it would be the best if i could date a poker player, even one who isnt as serious as me would be fine..just as long as shes hot..thats all i ask :)

    I hear ya , 2 Guns - i definately wasnt trying to make it out like im the only one with problems ( feels that way sometimes though ) Everyone has issues , and as bad as my issues are ( to me ) , there's always people out there with bigger ones . That alone keeps my sanity in check .
    BTW - cakeaholic = addicted to money? , shouldn't u be addicted to cake ?
