Great game guys!!!
And Mr. Galen Hall you have straight up class bro. I loved the final analysis on the fold. congats! -
Congrats Daize! Ignore the haters, you have been open about what happened with your other accounts in the past.
-
nice run by all, enjoy the skrill
-
Congrats, Daize, glad to see you do well. Exactly how much weed can 2 million buy?
-
okay can somone explain the kitchens reference for those of us not in the know?

I stand in amazement at Hall's fold. No question about it - most mere humans are toast in that spot. What a lay down and one destined to live in infamy.

Hall fired out a bet of two million and had walked right into Oliver's trap. Oliver thought for a little bit and started to cut out some chips. Then, he moved all in to go for max value and try and end this thing right here. Hall didn't snap-call. He tanked for a few minutes holding the wheel. Eventually, Hall gave it up and made one the best folds we've ever been witness to. Oliver scooped the pot and little does he know how very close he was to winning this thing right here.

BUT. . . Why did he get himself in that situation in the first place?
Galen's post-win interview got me to thinking and now I'm fixated on why Galen didn't just check-back on the river?? Or - at a minimum, why didn't he make a substantially smaller "value bet"?
Galen was very cool in going through his thinking process in the post-win interview. In response to Oliver's check-shove, Galen correctly deduced that Oliver had 1 of 5 hands that had him beat because, in Galen's words, Oliver wasn't trying to get him (Galen) off of a bluff with that shove - it was a VALUE BET.
(5 hands that had Galen beat included: A2/23/25/22/46 - the way Oliver had been playing, ALL of those hands were in his range)
So I'm wondering what kind of analysis Galen went through before spewing $2 mil after Oliver's river check? He apparently didn't smell a trap - at first. He was "value betting" (his words) the $2 million. But - did he really think he was going to get called if he truly was ahead? Clearly, the correct response to Oliver's river check was a check back, but of course, we have the benefit of hole-card cameras and hindsight. For that matter, what if he had bet less - say $500k mil instead of $2 mil?
In a nutshell, what kind of value was Galen truly thinking he would get, given Oliver's obviously polarized range? Isn't that situation precisely the one where your best play is a check-back, given the polarization?
Just wonderin' how many of you cloud-thinking poker-studs would have been able to resist the wasted "value bet" and instead check-backed in that spot, realizing that your opponent is so polarized that he either has you crushed (in which case you're going to see the check-raise from hell) or you have your opponent so crushed that he's going to fold to any bet over $100 (lol).
(not dissin' anyone's play here, just using the hand as the focus of a hopefully meaningful discussion - it truly was an amazing hand and it was waaaay cool to be able to watch live - I still can't believe the lay down!) -
gg Daize and congrats to Hall...but as of today, Chris Oliver is the official rapeboss of televised poker. What a sick & free lesson for all...

TY!
Reason: momma always said to thank those who give you something... -
In the heat of the moment its def a excellent fold.
But checking back in this spot would be horrible. Maybe you could argue for a smaller bet but im ok with the pot bet. When he bets pot his range is pretty polarized and daize could call with almost any pair. Saying that whne daize check shoves river his range is even more polorized. If he missed the flush im almost positive he leads river i dont think he takes that line with a missed draw and it was a substancial all ins shove in comparizon to the pot. At best Hall has to think hes choping.
Most people still call here nice lay down Galen and congradulations u deserved the win sure more to come -

BOSSSSSSS
Reason: BOSS CITY -
Checking back would be beyond awful there, at the time of the check on the river Daize's range isn't polarized as of yet, he can have a ton of different marginal hands at that point in the hand.
When Galen said his range was polarized, that's AFTER Daize's check raise shove on the river. At that point he can rule out every marginal, showdown value hand, and now it's just nuts or air. -
Without regard to the outcome - the PCA Final Table both on the web and ESPN was the biggest leap forward in viewing poker since the introduction of the lipstick cam.
It was perfect for a degen like me.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. The show was both a great concept and well executed. I hope that this happens more in the future. While Daniel's commentary was at times self aggrandizing and a little off the point it was overall very good.
The play of Chris was sick....he seemed to tire down the stretch and made some errors he avoided when he was fresher. Hall patience and avoidance of getting stacked with the straight was superb.
Out-fkng-standing pokerstars and ESPN! -
Great plays by both players. Maybe Galen got a little bit greedy with the pot sized bet. Can't one of Chris' showdown hands be the same straight?
-
Was rooting for Hall, but I was sad to see the A9 blowup after how well they had played all evening. It was great coverage even though DN can be a douche.
-
Glad Hall won it, someone who actually dresses decent at a final table and can have an actual interview without seeming like they haven't left their house in 20 years.
-
Just watched the DVR. Congrats to both of u. Sick job
-
i really like the hall kid a ton. classy and smart. gl to you at stanford and in poker
