  1. I am reading all these recent posts about cash games being significantly more profitable than tourneys so I am thinking about giving cash games a try. I have been a mildly successful tourney player, but I am thinking about switching over to the dark side for part of my play.

My bankroll online is about $1500 at this point, and I could easily reload if need be.

Here are my thoughts and goals:

I think, at least to begin, my level should be .25/.50 NL. I want to play 6 handed.

One restriction at this time is that I can't focus that much on more than 3 tables at a time, if I play 4 or more, my play becomes extremely vanilla and I don't pay any attention to my opponents and how they have been playing. So figure I will 2-3 table, with some 4 tabling once I get used to it.

GOAL: Is it realistic to shoot for profit of one buy-in an hour??? Basically, if I play for 4 hours a night, the goal would be to profit $200. Is that attainable or crazy??

Comments please from all, especially you cash players that began as tourney players....

    Thanks!!!!!
  2. 3 tabling and making 200 dollars in 4 hours would be about 17 BB/hr. Over the long run I feel this is totally un-attainable.

I have logged over 60k hands at this limit, and consider myself one of the best. I have closing in on a 10 million hand database and my BB/100 at around 7.5-8 ranks as just about the top one when compared to players with a reasonable amount hands.
  3. 10 BB/100 (which is $10 per 100 hands at .25/50 blinds) * 3 tables * 75 hands per hour * 4 hours = $90. I think a 2 buyin goal is more realistic. Also, your winrate wont be as simple as winning X number of buyins per session/night- sometimes you will win more, sometimes less, and sometimes YOU WILL LOSE x buyins.. your winrate is long-term over large samples..

If you are crushing these stakes at 15+ BB/100, then you should be playing higher and/or more than 3 tables.

Hope this helps. 30K hands at 10c/25c and 25c/50c PLO. All hands were played at 6-max tables on either pokerstars or FullTilt.

    **EDIT**
I just notice I was only at 3.51bb/100 over almost 20K hands in one colum. At one point I had over $2000 profit but went on mega-tilt and blew thru ALOT of money. So if I could somehow filter out the tilt sessions, my bb/100 in that section would be much higher.
    Moral of this edit...DON'T TILT!!!!!
