For maintenance reasons, the ability to add, remove or change poker site names will be down until Monday, May 20 at 09:00 AM (GMT - 6:00). Thanks for your patience.

  1. I haven't been there before. Going to grind 1/2 while friend goes and plays table games. Advice welcomed, thanks.

  2. Don't get stabbed.

  3. wear a bullet proof vest.
  4. Ok ignore those ^^^^ you are safe inside the casino. good choice of the three options btw

food: do not eat at the food court or buffet, for a little bit more you can eat at Wolfgang Puck they have pizzas and sandwiches in the bar. or if you hit it big go to Saltwater(Michael Mina's) and get the lobster pot pie.
  5. lobster pot pie ftw
  6. more fish at Motor City

    but gl either way
  7. dont
  8. be careful once you step out of the casino
  9. oops i was thinking of Motor City initially. MGM is nice. Poker room is upstairs and very fancy. I ate at the wolfgang puck restaurant. Good food but veerrry overpriced. Theres a club in there thats supposed to be fun but they have so much security in front of the entrance its kind of a turnoff. Theres no line, the clubs empty but they'll still have 5 dudes in tuxes wearing earpeaces who think there in the secret service out front.

  10. If you're going to play 1/2 anyway you should consider Motorcity... they have 2 bad beat jackpots over 100k with the quads losing jackpot at about 190k. Room is very full on weekends with the jackpot though so tough to get a seat.
  11. i've never been to MGM's poker room, but I do love Motor City's.
  12. The waiting list for the BBJ might be rather long at MCity. MGM is fun to go to. However I am tilted with those ceramic rings around the table where you put your chips... Its annoying and not big enough. The action there is 1-2 100-300 and 2-5 200?-1000. It is a nice room, just might be a problem if the clubs is open, which on a Sunday night it may be, I am not sure... PM if you are looking for more people to drink with/play cards or whatever... At MGM i do not park valet... Yea its nice to not have the keys in your pocket and whatever, but its a bitch to get in and out of, unless things have changed.
One deterent of MCity is that there arent that many table games there... MGM has the 2 BJ and Span 21/Roullete/Double Exposure BJ/Bac pits. the craps pit, the special card games (2-5-7 table HE, let it ride, 3 card, ect) and then theres the party pit, whcih is the $10 tables and pays 6/5 on BJ. So, in terms of choice for games, I think that it is for sure MGM... Greektown has its 3 pits, and otherwise it sucks too... can never find a seat at a table game on the weekend.. and people suck.
MCity has a 4 pits. A craps pit then a mumbo jumbo pit with 3 card poker, casino war, roulette, BJ, all in the same pit. On the other side of the 100s of people losing their welfare checks playing slots, is 2 more pits... The one in the back is more high stakes (runs $25 tables almost exclusively) and mostly BJ. Behind this is the high stakes ($100+) pit, secluded off. The one in front of that (form a L with a walkway at the intersection. The other pit is mostly BJ with a pai gow and 2? roulette tables.

Food at MGM is very very good. I have eaten at every restaurant there except for Wolfgang Pucks, as they make a very good filet mignon at Bourbon Steak ($49). I have yet to eat at MC, as I do not like the casino very much, and dislike spending time in the casino. Greektown has many venues within walking distance. Go too far, and people are right, you might need a bulletproof vest. Across the street from Greektowns valet is Floods. It is a jazz bar and sears a very good cod sandwich... It is moderately pricey, but hey. its a nice place. Its a dressier place, so collared shirt and no hats, ect.

    As for the poker rooms:
With such a high bad beat, the wait at MCity might be the longest. I know when the BB gets super high, there are regularly 1hr and longer waits during peak times. As for the play, IDK, I have only played a handful of times at the high limit he game they offer (or used to, Detroit is poor-havent checked for a game in a minute).
I have played a decent amount at Greektown, but people there suck at life. Its a like of 100< buy ins. There is also a guy there that gets drunk and yells ocho cinco baby! every time he wins a pot... I did this to him and my presence was no longer appreciated in the casino for a period of 24 hours. However, he likes to lose 2-3 BI or so in a night. Dealers at Gtown kinda blow if they are new, but there are some good ones there...
    MGM: See above
    Holy shit, that was long...
  13. Are drinks free while playing poker?

  14. Only at Greektown if you are playing in the high stakes room.. which is in between the buffet (if you see it when you walk from the parking garage, keep walking and its on your left) and the craps table. During the week its 25 mins its pretty bamf as so many people bet 25 on the floor as it is.. But anyway, no, on the floor there are no free drinks.
  15. Why all the comments about stabbing and bullet proof vest etc??? Is this because it's dangerous in and around MGM? or the strip in general?

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This!!! I would play at Motor City over MGM any day... more tables, very well run and the bad beat jackpots are always large...
  21. I'll be at mgm this weekend ...

Max buyin for 2/5 is only 500 now at mg ...I live in windsor and caesars is my home but they have good games at mgm on the weekends.. I like motorcity too they always have good games but on the weekends mgm jus has pure gamblers, regs too but they jus gamble. If u ever decide to go to caesars we got a 5/10 no max every tuesday but be careful, u wouldn't wanna run into a shark like me :)
  22. This weekend should be extra juicy in Detroit. With the North American International Auto Show starting this weekend, Kid Rock 40th birthday concert on Saturday, and the Red Wings playing on Friday and Saturday there should be more action than normal.

Greektown is closest to the events downtown and is a good choice (has 5/10 PLO on Saturday at noon). All the casinos have their pluses, Motorcity big BBJ and MGM may have more rich donks playing.
