I just started playing 6 max tables recently so any comments would be appreciated
INREAL was not getting out of line at all up until this point and was folding a lot, sometimes instafolding the bb to my raise when it was just me and him in the blinds although didnt play that many hands with him...
honestly i went to call right before the clock expired and was too late but was obv indecisive, in retrospect i actually think it was a good fold bec i think he might have had a better ace, although no rr pre but i was utg, and with the rainbow flop and non dangerous turn he might have a set and played it slow -- i guess with no strong read and the fact he was tight up until this point i have to fold, right??

I can say it's a fold because I've played against INREAL enough to know that he's a total nit and he doesn't make this bet with anything you can beat. It would be a much tougher decision against a better/trickier/average regular. But if you're going to fold to this river card, why are you betting the turn? Your line doesn't make a lot of sense.

Can't comment specifically about INREAL but whether to call or not vs. a random is highly dependent on your own table image. Have you been making 2 barreled continuation bets? Have you shown down any weaker cards from a UTG raise? Are you generally an active player? If so, you can probably find a call on this river. -
No. Because your opponent has air or you beat.
If you fold your opponent will blow you off countless pots or at least try.
If you call and your beat you get some key info and can make the proper adjustments.
I think you are beat though. INREAL has A4 or 44. What can INREAL put you on,
Q4 and the ace on the river counter fitted you so he bets $96 to blow you off the hand? I don't think so. You bet ever street but the river so he knows you have an ace and he is betting your not folding to his bet. -
thanks for the replys, i have been active but nothing too crazy and 2 barreling boards depending on texture but not that much and i did showdown an 85s utg raise but dont think INREAL saw it, anyway so u both think i should just check and fold after the flop? i bet because a second diamond came(not that important) but also in case he had a queen or an ace with a lower kicker and didnt want him to catch up, and also a bit to find out if i was beat bec after the 25 on the turn i thought he might raise w/a better hand, idk,,,def new to 6max and havent played that much 1-2 on line in general...
also remember i didnt have that great a read on INREAL
also dandickau, i dont remember ever playing w/u on UB but do remember some of your posts here and i know ur good, just curious what limits you play on UB? what games u consider soft?
do you guys play the same amount of tables of 6max as full ring,,,i am finding i cant and have just been playing 1-2 tables to get used to 6 max,,i like it bec you get to play more poker and i was becoming complacent and a tight nit playing 1-2 full bec it was still profitable esp live
i just put in 4 hrs and only saw 471 hands but feel like i can play better poker this way or at least have the potential to do so -
so what do you put him on? he hasnt gotten out of line up until this point, so you think he could just be totally bluffing after i raised utg then bet flop and turn?

what did he call the flop and turn with that doesnt have me beat?
maybe the ace on the river made him think i didnt have one? -
bec i felt i was beat after he flat called the flop and esp the turn and if i am beat with 3 aces hes not folding to any bet, and actually i went to call but time ran out bec i was playing another hand at another tbl but if i had more time i would have folded and still think the fold was correct
-
Your line makes it almost impossible to put him on a hand at the river. That said, whenever I call a big bet at 1/2, they always have it, so the fold can't be awful.

The turn is definitely a tough spot vs. a lot of players, given you have a marginal hand and you're out of position. How to play the hand can't really be covered in one post, because it's so dependent on your opponent. I'll bet for value against a weak player who likes to call, I'll check/call the turn against a regular that I think is floating me and depending on how he plays I'll plan to either check/fold, check/call or check/raise the river. The only reason I was able to say with confidence that you should check/fold the turn here is because I know the opponent.
I play anywhere from 1-2 NL to 3-6 NL. If you haven't played with me at 1-2 NL then you haven't played it much, because I've put in a ton of volume over the past 5 months or so. I haven't made the jump to playing 2-4 and higher exclusively because there are so few tables running on UB so it's really impossible to regularly 8-9 table and still practice decent game selection. Eventually I'm going to move some money onto a site like pokerstars to play higher stakes.
As for number of tables, I can't say because I've never played full ring, but just play what you're comfortable playing. I started 2-tabling 6-max and just slowly worked my way up. I remember when I made the jump from 4 tables to 5 tables and it seemed tough. Eventually I was 12-tabling without much trouble. Now my standard is to play anywhere from 6-9 tables but I like to force myself to limit myself to 2-4 tables for at least one session per day in order to stay sharp and not just play on autopilot so I keep improving. -
^^^ thanks for the response

do you think he waited to spring a trap on the river? or was he taking your river check as if you didn't have an ace and could take it down with a bet? Why wouldn't villain raise the turn if he thought he was ahead? the ace hasn't changed anything. if you think you are ahead on the turn you are def. ahead on the river. IMO he could have any ace there because the likelyhood of you having an ace deminishes on the river. but what do i know...
