    This is from a $22 MTT on party.
    Even though I missed my draws, I sensed he was worried about the str8 on the river and if I make a large enough bet he'll lay it down.
    I was pretty sure he had an ace and my hand would not win a showdown.
    I also posted the chat after the hand was over.

    Do you think this was a good play?
    Your thoughts?

    A few things I think to consider - you have an M of like 40 so you have room to make a few moves, although if this failed you would have only been left with like 600 chips so an M = 10 which means you are pretty close to push/fold mode. You were facing a guy who re-raised on the turn and may have potentially already hit the straight and is checking out of position to induce a bet from you. If you fold you are left with about 1800 and an M of 30 which leaves plenty of room to make a move in a more comfortable position.

    I belive that this was a bad move for a few reasons - 1) you could fold and still maintain a decent chip postion. 2) you hit second pair on the river, and may potentially have the best hand against one other opponent so a check would be fine. 3) if he is trapping you he will re-raise you and you will either decide you are pot committed and call and lose, or you will fold and only have 600 chips left. 4) if he decides you are bluffing he could potentially re-raise you with nothing or a weak ace or a weak two pair, and you will end up losing to the re-raise or folding with 600 chips behind.

    With the king on the river and a check to you in postion, I would just check it down and hope he had something like a pair of Q's or J's with a gut shot or possibly a flush draw and if you lose you still have plenty of chips left to work with. I play a conservative game especially early on so I'm sure a lot of more aggressive players would agree with your play.
