With the Nvidia card and docking station, you can push two 30 inch monitors at max res. (DisplayPort, not HDMI but you could get the dongle if you don't have the dell monitors)
LOL at Crapple -
Um seriously enough with these posts. Poker programs do not take much system use, use your head................

I mean it's a laptop for poker, any laptop sucks for playing poker compared to a regular setup, just get a big one, there is no special "poker" laptop brah.
Like mentioned above, get one that plugs into a flat screen setup, either with VGA or HDMI, because playing on laptop when it's not necessary is ghey. Obv travel is different, and really in that case there isn't a big difference in the experience of different products within the same price range. -
if your gonna use wi-fi make sure that it has a good network card...don't wanna get disconnected during a cash game.

This is SFTrue.

laptops suck for poker. If you want a nice poker setup, get a super cheap computer that supports two monitors, and get two 24" or 26".
This is obv personal opinion, but having a 17" laptop is kinda defeating the purpose of having a laptop. It's too big. A laptop is suppose to be small and light, so it's easy to bring with you. Are you really going to play poker that many different places? I play poker on my desktop, and do other stuff with my laptop. When I travel I do play on the laptop, but I don't like it, but since it's so seldom, I don't give a fuck. -
laptops are a MUST for any poker player who doesn't prefer to sit in one spot for hours on end with only 5 min breaks to be away from a desktop... mobility is definitely key.

Steve jobs says u should get an IPAD for the best internet experience on earth
-
Laptops are cool in that u can take a dump and not miss hands and with a wireless mouse u could even take a bath while playing a table or 2

I bought the Dell Studio 17 for about $750 a few months ago:
17in screen
500 GB hard drive
4GB memory
Intel core 2 duo processor
Works amazingly well for grinding. -
I just asked a similar question a few days ago. I'm currently using a Dell Vostro 1720 w/ a 17" screen 4GB of ram. I 24 table and the issue I was having was with my HUD...After about an hour it would slow or even lock the computer. I was told to get rid of the video card and get at least 1gb dedicated GPU ram and upgrade the system ram from 4 to 8 as well....which will also require and upgrade to a 64bit OS
Hope this helps. -
Dell or Toshiba

sfthis. I'm a smoker (tobacco), ADHD like woah and a college student. Instead of waiting to :55 past the hour to pee, get cancer, top off mah drank or whatever like a focking inmate living on someone else's schedule. I just bring the pokah with me.

The desktop with dual monitors is probably best. Unless you want to get mobile and depending on how much u mutli table and if you use a HUD...you will need alot RAM. 4 atleast and that would be pushing it.
and you can buy another monitor to connect to your laptop, so having a 17in LT is not necessary. The 17in laptop is going to produce alot of heat, after some time and depending how much airflow you get from that. It will eventually cook the hardware on the inside and you will be back to square1. -

^^ Ignore this. You'll be getting Windows 7 anyway if you go PC so doesn't really matter but Vista is far from garbage. Had some compatibility issues early but has been a sweet OS for a long time.
