And brazilians... But damn, I miss the 60k french-ppl :(
-
yeah thats really sick. 60k is very very much (allthough it incluedes playmoney...). Just disgusting, byebye world wide competition:(.
I hope they will at least be allowed to play in the biggies like Million and sccop etc... -
are there still some sites where the french can still play
surely every site has nt excluded them -
This could be the direction that online poker takes. With each site having a branch for each country that they have players. This would make it much easier for an individual country to tax and regulate games. A pokerstars.us site may not be far away.
-
How would these governements regulate who plays on what site without the sites actively blocking the players? For example, if pokerstars didn't ban french players, would the french governement be able to stop them from playing on pokerstars?

Where do I sign up?

PokerStars News
Last week, we told you of the PokerStars poker players in France who wouldn't be able to access their beloved site anymore because of the new legislation.
The players would have had to play for play money tournaments on PokerStars.fr. It seems like this may change on Wednesday, June 30, according to a press release. Once the French government has published the regulations for online poker, PokerStars.fr will begin running cash games.
“PokerStars.fr aims to be one of the leading online poker operators from
the day the French market opens, offering players the best tournaments,
promotions and opportunities to win seats at PokerStars world-renowned
international tournaments,” said PokerStars French Country Manager
Alexandre Balkany.

might be my lack of understanding the English language but does that pokernews posts state that Franch player mightcome back, allready? -
No, we will be able to play, but only on pokerstars.fr.
We were waiting for the french law to sign some stuff and now it's ready to go.
A €5 K.O tournament is running right now with 562 people in it. not bad considering it's the third tournament ever on pokerstars.fr and many (including me because i'm waiting a few weeks to see what offers we can get) are not registered yet
-
Are they going to be running french only sattelites to the bigger sunday games?
Surely if you win a ticket to something you can't be 'not' allowed play it?

I don't think you understand how this goes. We will never play agnst french again, they are only going to play their own tournaments in their own nework.
-
I had 3 French players at my table late in the daily dollar rebuy on tilt last night. I guess either tilt is just going to ignore the whole thing or they are pushing back their ban of the French. Petition to start a mob of action on ftp to grab the last few bucks we can outta the country before its gone for good.
-
It seems that FTP is so far ignoring the french law. Will be interesting to see how it develops.
-
yeah the tournament is basically a 3.40 +0.60, it's quite a lot and grinding sngs will be out of the question. I'm going to focus on a few tournaments a week.
pokerstars has already established the sunday 100K. It will start this sunday and it's a €100 buy in with 100K guaranteed. Not bad I guess, although it will probably a €100+ 20 -
ouch... gl beating the rake

this is all just absurd and makes my stomach hurt, literally.
sounds to me like full tilt is still allowing french players because they weren't able to secure a license from the french govt (like pokerstars).
well god bless full tilt for doing so. this is absurdity. what a HORRIBLE precedent france has set by doing this.
hopefully, if the rake is absurd, and people in france can still access good sites like Full Tilt, the french model for this will FAIL (as it fucking should) and no other countries will follow suit.
GOVT: YOU CAN'T REGULATE WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT TO DO. THE PEOPLE WILL DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO. HAVE YOU NOT HAD A LOOK BACK IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPECIES AND OUR ATTEMPTS AT BAD REGULATION? ALCOHOL, DRUGS, PROSTITUTION? GOD I'M SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW MY HEAD COULD EXPLODE. -
update: the sunday 100K will be €90+ €10, which means that pokerstars lowered his rake to 8% on this tourney while the gvt will get 2%
Thank you PS -
adamsapple +2....
I'm all for Revolution.... and im serious about this... I'd rather see a world in shambles with rights than one where im being forced my hand IMO
P.S. How sick would it be to travel to France, sign up for a pokerstars.fr tourny, and realize you're only playing against donkeys... great vacation IMO -
perhaps there is a way american players can DL the pokerstars.fr software and play only against tfrench people hahaha.... then the us govt would prob shit their pants knowing france was making rake from US players
-
how do you know what % the govt is getting?

Thank you PS
also, can you confirm or deny that french players are still able to access other sites, full tilt for example?
btw thanks for very intelligently communicating what is going on from "behind enemy lines" to the P5s community, its appreciated. -
how about live poker then? are they also gonna forbid French players from traveling abroad and playing with people from other countries too? How is that any different from online poker?
just thinking of the precedent this sets is beginning to tilt me already -
If I go to France on a holiday will I be able to log in and play with my existing account on the .com site?
-
sigh
-
What is exactly needed to be able to play on pokerstars.fr?
